Who: Shizune and Ebisu
What: Conversation about their child and a serious climax in Shizune’s complication.
Where: Ebisu’s place
When: Today, late afternoon
Warnings: Hospital panic, blood and a certain death…

Four months. This was a critical time in her pregnancy. Although she knew she wouldn’t be showing much of a stomach for a few more good months she could notice the things changing with her body and her mind. All of her stress levels had been through the roof specially with Sasori moving on. Speaking with her father on the subject of all this and her friends. Work ethics and trying to keep things at a proper pace.

It was all so hard. There was part of her that wasn’t sure she was about to do any of this. For that, she was scared.

Knee high brown boots thumped up the steps to Ebisu’s apartment. Her black skirt was complimented with a thick black sweater, her coat wrapped tightly around her. Winter was almost over luckily. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear before she knocked on his door.

With a hum and spoon in his mouth, Ebisu was nose deep with the icecream tub in hand when he heard the knock to the door. Clad in a comfortable, loose pair of jeans he made his way to the door.  Bare feet stumbled across the hardwood floors, and he greated the guest with a half smile and spoonful of icecream.

That smile got bigger when he saw the delicate fireball in standing in front of him.

That sight of him silly with that smile of his and a bucket of ice-cream just made her brighten. She smiled back at him and seemed to gain back some of her lost energy just from that. Shizune really did feel something strong for Ebisu in just the way he acted. It must have been her maternal side.

“Planning on sharing some of that with me?” She greeted.

There was a slight twist in her lower stomach for a moment. The pain shot up her back like fire and she outwardly cringed. What was that… The pain slowly stopped and she looked back up at Ebisu. “Can I come inside?”

"Only if you play nice," he said with another silly grin as he planted the spoon back in the tub of cream.  The door creaked as he opened it wider to let her come in. She looked good, and he was more than happy to see his favorite girl.

He made his way to the couch that was knee high in magazines and math books. He pushed aside the materials to make a clean spot for her to sit.

She walked inside and dropped her bag and coat on the arm of the couch and sat down. She adjusted her boots for a moment before she looked around. Ebisu kept care of himself well besides all the ice cream and the walking around without a shirt on. It was really cute.

Shizune looked up at him. “There has been a lot I've been thinking about, Ebisu…” There was the obvious worry in her voice. She placed her hand on her stomach.

Sitting the ice-cream container down on the floor as he took a seat himself, he watched her carefully.  She was stressing, and it had to always be his duty to keep her from plaguing herself with thoughts. He had to admit, he was rather jealous the red-head that had been living with her for sometime.  He'd been more than happy when he left, maybe it would be helpful with Shizune and his relationship. Dabbing a bit of ice-cream on his finger he leaned in planting it on her bottom lip before nibbling on that lip with a kiss.

He was never good with the serious stuff.

Her heart gave a little flip at his attention. Her a moment she forgot what she was going to address and leaned into the kiss that tasted of sweets. She lavished in his attention and came closer. Shortly after the kiss she wondered if she could have this everyday for the rest of her life... How would he feel.

No matter what, she couldn't get it out of her mind. Shizune smiled slightly and decided to be blunt with him, "...May I move in with you? Since we have this..." Her hand rubbed her stomach.

He jaw all but dropped at her question.  It wasn't like he would say no. How the hell could he turn down a gorgeous woman like that. But....losing one's bachelorhood, it was kind of hard to do after all these years alone.  The last time....the last time he'd allowed that his heart was crushed in a million pieces by the twit that took everything he had. Not only in mind in heart, but some of his prized possessions. Shi was far from that, but it was sudden. Couldn't say he wasn't expecting it considering he'd knocked her up good and fast.  It was just that though...happening so fast.

His lack of response scared her a moment. Shizune really couldn't do something like this on her own. Ebisu would be there for her with her pregnancy and with the child, right? There was an emotional streak of fear that wound up her throat and she had to stand up and walk to the other side of the room.

"Sasori-kun left me by myself last week." She muttered. Her tone made her seem over emotional but what pregnant woman wasn't

Stumbling to stand up, he got to his feet and tugged his pants up as they tried to defy gravity a bit.  He hadn't lost a whole lot of weight, but being by himself again all these months had been rather tough once he'd gotten that taste of what it was like to have a woman in his life again.

"Correct me if I'm wrong Shi, but your not exactly the kind of woman that has a hard time standing on her own..." Ouch. That hadn't meant to come out quite as it seemed.  He realized then he hadn't even answered her question yet. He was terrible at this kind of thing.

Her eyes widened. Shizune shook slightly and wound her arms around herself protectively. It was true she was always so independent. Her life was surrounded with keeping care of others and doing all she needed for herself. What scared her was...was...

"Are you saying you want me to raise our child on my own?" She snapped at him, turning around to face him. Her eyes were bright with fear.

"I didn't say that," he replied with a tilt of his head, eyes focusing on hers and giving her a sombre face.

Not once did he want her to think he was going to feed her to the wolves (even if she could save him like he was a damsel in distress more times than he could count).  This was just difficult to grasp.  It was a lot to take in. First child, now moving in. What was next? Marriage? Not that he'd turn her down on that one either, just....this was a big step. Sitting back down on the couch he chewed on his bottom lip.

Shizune watched him closely for a moment trying to figure out what he was thinking. Sometimes it was so easy other times it was the hardest thing in the world. This was so important though. There was their future. If there even was one.

"What do you want, Ebisu?" She asked gently.

Tapping his fingers on the arm of the couch he paused for a moment, resting his chin on hand.

"I want you...." he said softly.  He meant it. Behind all the fun sex and playful games they had, she meant the world to him. She had to realize that.  "This is just heavy Shi...."

Shizune felt that little flip in her stomach again. An odd curling shot of pain. She wasn't feeling so well. Yet she heard what he said and it made her eyes water. That was were they collided many times. They had so much fun together but when it came down to actual seriousness she was much to forward with what needed to be said and done. Her life had made her out to be like that. Ebisu was much the opposite in his way of trying to take his careful time with things. In a way they needed to learn to level each other out.

"I know...I'm scared." She said truthfully. "I just don't want to be alone in this." Shizune looked at the ground. For the first time in a very long time she looked defeated and vulnerable.

Is this where he could come in with the white horse and save her?  With the defeated look in her eyes, he felt guilty by not being as sensitive to her feelings as he should.  He hopped up off the couch, making a few steps towards her, closing that distance between them.  He rested his hands on her shoulders, as he pulled her back towards him.  "I don't want you to either."

There was some sort of weight that lifted off her shoulders although she still had so much. Shizune had a problem with over analyzing things all the time to a point were she stressed herself out. Her father always claimed she had some sort of stress disorder. She let her head fall against his bare chest and inhaled lightly taking his closeness in. She let her eyes shut tightly. "I've been staying with my father since Sasori moved out. I'll stay with him a few more days until you decide then." She whispered.

He rubbed her shoulders softly, liking the comfort of her close again.  It had been a while. A long while. As if she'd been under some sort of spell that she was finally released from.  He snuggled her neck with his nose, kissing her sweetly.

"Hungry?" he asked.

Shizune snuggled against him a moment and smiled. She just lavished herself in the attention a moment before she decided to reply. "Actually, can I take a nap here? I'm not feeling so well." She asked, looking at him gently. "But when I wake up that would be great~"

Shizune felt another jolt of pain. Yeah...just sleep it off.

He pulled her in tightly in a hug, arms around her shoulders.  "Of course baby...." he said softly in a whisper to her ear.  "I'll be back in five..." he said, still grasping onto her a moment longer before he got dressed to go across the street.

"Alright." She said back lightly, giving him a smile. Shizune was hiding that she was in an odd amount of pain right now. She turned and made her way for his bedroom and upon reaching it fell into his bed like it was her own and snuggled tightly into his pillow. It did nothing to ease her pain though. It seemed to get worse and she cringed in her bed.

He grabbed a shirt and coat out of the closet and made his way to the door. With a click of his keys and the doorknob headed down the stairs and towards the mini-mart close by. Maybe some sushi.  Or some good ol' American food. Yes. He felt in the mood for hamburgers, and he'd bring Shi back something special. With a grin he placed the shirt over his head, the coat following.

Minutes ticked past.

The silence of the apartment didn't seem to help her mood. With thee quiet she seemed to suddenly focus on the pain that was slowly curling in her stomach. She thought it might just be some sort of form of cramps. Yet there was something more emotional to this. Shizune whimpered and soon started sobbing.

“Ebisu…“ She whimpered again. Her arms tightly held her stomach. Shizune was a nurse and suddenly she understood what might be happening. Her eyes snapped open as she felt something burn inside her. The pain was unimaginable. She let out a loud scream.

She pulled herself from bed and fell to the ground. Careful of her stomach, she landed on her side and crawled towards the dresser for the phone. “Ebisu...Ebisu!” Pulling herself clumsily to her feet she let out another scream of pain. Her hands fell to her side and she felt something wet.

She looked down.

Blood. Everywhere. “No…” She screamed again. She looked down.

Heading back up the stairs, Ebisu reached the door fumbling with the keys to unlock it. They dropped to the floor a few times before he finally rattled the door open.  Something in the air felt slightly....off.  Sitting the bag down on the kitchen counter, he made his way towards the bedroom.  He all but slipped on the floor from the wetness lining it. He lifted his shoe, was that blood?  His heart suddenly felt heavy and the air stuffy when he saw Shizune on the floor.

"Shi...." he asked, voice trembling and weak.  He gulped down the fear, but it didn't make it go away any faster.  Was she breathing? Why was she bleeding all over the place? Was she dead? Crouching down on his haunches he released a trembling hand to her shoulder. He called out her name again.

She was barely conscious. The life from her face was slowly fading away. Shizune felt as though her very being was being ripped apart. The life in her womb was rejecting her and rejecting life. All she could think of was what Sasori had said to her.

“...Ebisu.” She sobbed painfully. “It's...it's...premature…“ Premature labour. She was going to die.

He held back the worry, it was time for him to be the kind of guy that she always told him he needed to be. He had to take control of this. This was serious, no fun and games. His heart was beating a mile a minute as he tried to keep himself well composed despite his worry.  He put his arms up under hers, trying to help her up.

"We got to get you to the hospital baby...." He said calmly and sweet.
