RNZ news reports that the pillars will be returned to the Grey Main School Reunion Committe. That is, unless the Greymouth Mayor steals them back first. This article at stuff.co.nz has Mr. Maika Mason's statements. Long story short, he says we did it so we didn't get stuck with them permanently. As if the average coaster wasn't bigoted enough without that kind of incentive.

Yep. Dr. Pita Sharples does it with more finesse. Ngati Waewae blessed the pillars before they left for their return to Greymouth, and I think they're trying to distance themselves from the whole thing.

Does anybody know who the contracting company who removed them was, they certainly should be outed and take the flak too.
