I had to hold a book and once the trick was over a specific page had been burned out and put in a picture frame all the way across the stage. None of which involved me being set on fire.

See Patty, Gurrie was brainwashed after the trick to make herself think that she wasn't set on fire.. when in all actuality, she was.. it happens all the time.
