Today, beez23 is sipping on some corporate poison and crossing the picket lines. He and I have both had it with these rich white kids refusing to TA classes and letting the students suffer just because they don't want to pay 9 bucks a month for health insurance. Give me a break. They are also complaining that they aren't getting paid as much as TAs at ( Read more... )

I was going to ask you about that - I read about it this morning in the Guardian. Maybe you should cross picket lines by throwing the body of that girl who kidnapped herself at them. Also got your message. Will call sometime this week or weekend. It will be a spicy phone sex surprise for you.

Yeah, but it was Santa Cruz. You know they just like to protest something, even if it doesn't matter.

Also, since I have no answer, where did you get your reading thing from a couple posts back? I want to find out if we are meant to be together.

There were TAs protesting at UB about a week ago. My music teacher (who was one of the protesters) said that TAs here made an average of $7000 a year - which is below the poverty line. They also have to pay technology fees to use the stuff they need to teach their own classes. Stupid state government and SUNY Board screwing people over...

They also apply for these jobs knowing full well how much they'll be making. If the salary is that bad, they should go somewhere else.

I usually thing on the same wavelength as you but I am sorry, I just don't agree with this crap. It happened in Santa Cruz a lot and I will never agree with it. If I decided to strike because the fact is I am paying $12/month for health insurance, the department of Biochem would laugh in my face and say "See ya." I knew what I was getting into before coming here. Granted, having an RA instead of a TA works out well. I also work 3 months more than the TAs and get a total of 21,000 a year. So I am not techinically making that much more but I am definitely dishing out a minimal amount of money for health insurance. !2 dollars isn't much It's a deal if you ask me and I think we are privilaged to receive higher education in the first place and I don't think we should make students suffer because of something so petty.
