If you think Cillian's bad in this movie, then I dare you to watch The Wind That Shakes The Barley, Breakfast on Pluto and Intermission. Then you'll change your mind.
Not "The Wind that Shakes the Barley." Ken Loach doesn't direct; he hires amateurs to do improv. Haltingly. Stiltedly. Badly. And that didn't exactly make for a good performance from Our Mr. Murphy. If that film didn't have a bulletproof topic (ain't nobody gonna smack a film about the Irish Civil War; it's kinda like smacking films about the Holocaust), it would have gotten buried as the blundering, awkward lump of junk that it is. Actually, I thought Murphy was spot-on as a slacker video hound in "WTD." I've known people exactly like that.
Uh.. sorry guys. Not that big a movie buff. But I liked Cillian in Batman Begins. Hated him in this and Red Eye. You guys have a "Cillian" tracker alert or something? How did you even find me?

He's probably one of the best actors of his generation. Go watch Breakfast on Pluto, On the Edge, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Edge of Love --
Also, Watching the Detectives had its good moments -- it was pretty tongue in cheek in most parts, but there was a sly humorous vein that ran through it.
If you're going to be a film critic, you might want to expand your film base so you have some cred when it comes to criticism.

I will expand my film base at my own pace, with the next film being "Shogunofyellow Is Not A Film Critic, He Just Watches Movies and Writes Reviews About Them On His Personal Livejournal For His Friends To Read"
