And now, an update from Arizona! As if most of you don't know I'm there already.
But yes. Thursday, we headed out to the airport. We were supposed to fly out at 1 pm, but we got delayed so much that our plane got there at 5:20 pm instead. Fun times! Especially when every wireless available demands that you buy from them. No thanks, I don't want to spend $6 on a few hours of online time.
It did arrive, though, and I've reconfirmed that I do, indeed, love airplane travel. Taking off and landing is kind of like that thrill one gets from a roller coaster without actually being in one (I have an irrational phobia of roller coasters, and somehow planes are okay); I'd grin and hold my legs out and hold onto the armrests. It's a very exciting feeling! My poor aunt, though, has motion sickness, so she absolutely hates it. It must be weird for passengers to see one person going 8D and the other going 8(. Anyway, I spent most of the time reading The Name of the Wind (courtesy of
pathways), which I've quickly fallen in love with, but I also looked out the window to enjoy the sights. Seeing the clouds in a totally different view will never stop being such a wonder for me! Being above the clouds, man! Not to mention how different the landscape looks when you're looking at it from thousands of feet in the air. Did you know that west Texas has these huge circles of green land where they grow crops in the middle of their deserty plains? Neither did I! It looks kind of like a quilt from way up high! Hnnngh, so amazing... And going into Arizona! lasjdfsdf EVERYTHING LOOKED LIKE A MINIATURE MODEL OF THE CITY. I felt like I could just - reach out and redo a building, or look a little further down and see some kind of description of the building. I had fun guessing which buildings were what!
Enough about flying, though. We met up with my brother and his not!waifu (whom I love and adore), and then we crashed at their place. The day after that, I got to go to the Phoenix Zoo by myself, which was a BLAST. I saw animals I've never seen before there! I got to see animals up close! Holy cow, I didn't realize lions were that huge! Elephants too! They had the skull of a full grown elephant on display, and fff. So incredible! And the place was so huge that I only barely got finished looking at everything before everyone came to pick me up. It took three hours or so! Also a duck and her ducklings got lost in the park, adslkfaf it was so adorable. All the kids wanted to touch them, but the park ranger wouldn't let them. Good move on her part!
Saturday, we went to Sedona, a big tourist town. We stayed at a houseish place, where there were KING SIZED BEDS. The weirdest part, though, was that it was SNOWING HEAVILY that day. SNOW. IN ARIZONA. We'd heard that, counting this time, it only snowed THREE TIMES in Sedona in TEN YEARS. I swear. Everywhere our group goes, strange weather phenomena hits. New York had a strange heat wave, now Sedona has a strange cold front. Still, it was a gorgeous place with mountains and red rock (covered in white snow), and I'm super happy we went. Even if it was cold. That night we played Scattergories until 1 AM, which was very, very fun and had us roaring with laughter and calls of foul play over some answers.
Today we explored Sedona some more, then headed back to Phoenix. We're at a hotel now, and we'll be leaving very early tomorrow to head back home. It was a fun trip, and I can't wait for the fly back! ♥
