FUCKING MARCO STILL ISN'T DEAD.
But that last scene with Avasarala and Drummer - aaaaaaaaa. SO GOOD. SO POWERFUL. In general, it's frustrating for me that Drummer's storyline has been so unhappy for the last couple of seasons; she just never gets to have or keep anything good, not her friends or her loved ones or even her pride. It actually hadn't hit me 'til this episode that they might kill her in the finale - I haven't truly believed she'd die since actually thinking she was dead in season three - and I may never forgive this show if they do that. I also wish like hell that we were going to get more than one more episode to build her back up a little and give her a shot at some kind of happy or at least hopeful ending.
But she's still one of my favorite characters in anything ever. I love that even two seasons after Ashford's death, we still get little callbacks to her friendship with him. And that last scene! I was truly surprised and gratified that Avasarala torturing a Belter in the very first episode was referred back to, because it's been so long and normally that kind of thing would just be swept aside as "this character did something OOC evil in their first appearance; let's pretend it never happened." (Which is how it has occasionally felt.) But instead it's part of her growth as a person, and I really loved seeing that come out into the open, as well as the little humiliations of Ceres being occupied by a foreign military force, thus making Drummer's decision at the end all the more impactful.
There just doesn't seem to be time to tie things up neatly in one more episode, but after almost losing me for a while there, the show has won me back pretty hard. I'll be looking forward to it. And then maybe check out the books.
