How can we embrace so much change but see Prop 8 in Cali?

I was totally baffled by this as well... California of all places??? If it can't pass there, where CAN it pass??

But I talked to some friends who live there and they say it is because of the huge Latino community, which generally practices very strict Catholicism, who voted overwhelmingly yes on 8.

Add to that heavy campaigning across state lines from Utah, where the Mormon church threw a lot of money into advertising for Prop 8. Pundits are now saying it's probably going to have to be decided by the US Supreme Court.

I would actually like to see it at the Supreme Court level, I think that is when it would be seen as unconstitutional and no state could ban it.

I also read there was a great deal of money thrown in from out of state contributions.
