Orihime Character Survey~
Posting this here instead of in her journal so as to not spam her flist. As a note, this survey reflects almost a year of development at adstringendum !
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
- Orihime is just a bit over 5'4" and weighs about 125 lbs. (It's the boobs, honest.) She has a very... developed figure for a girl her age- full breasts, hips, the whole shebang. Her weight isn't unhealthy, though- she gets plenty of excersize with Tatsuki.
2. How old is she?
- As of 10/3/10, she's seventeen.
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?
- If she's happy, she'll be bouncing around and carrying herself in a very perky fashion. If she's upset, though, she'll sort of curl into herself.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
- She's pretty in-shape, especially with all the running she does in Adstring. xD
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
- When it comes to daily things, she can be prone to slipping here or falling there, but she's not a total klutz- not when she can slide down a pole from a third-story window.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?
- Uhm... Quite a few other characters seem to find her attractive, I find her attractive, but I doubt she thinks she's good-looking. Headcanon says she really envies Rukia's and Ishida's slender body type.
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
- Pretty normal.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.
- It's kept very long, about down to her waist, in an internal promise to Tatsuki. The colour is sort of an auburn, I guess, and going by what Hiyori says, it's very soft. She usually keeps it down except for the stray bangs pinned back with the Shun Shun Rikka.
9. What color are her eyes?
- I've seen everything from brown to blue, but I use a soft grey.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
- Uhm... Massive boobies? A heart of gold and a head of air? Powers that surpass God?
11. What are her chief tension centers?
- Emotionally, her broken promise, getting stronger so as to mend that promise, pulling Hiiro out of his shell, her relationship with Ulquiorra, and Aizen. Physically, her toes. Yes, her toes. Whenever she's feeling really strong emotion, she curls her toes, or if she's barefoot, rubs her feet over one another. Yes, this is actually shown in canon. Ch. 199, "Ugly".
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?
- She loves floral print skirts, so everything is either bright or pastel. Her wardrobe ranges from sweats and t-shirts to skirts and blouses.
13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?
- She's very comfortable in what she wears, save for the HM uniform, which is currently rags in the back of her closet.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?
- In Karakura, she'd wear her uniform to school and casual clothes elsewhere, but in Adstring, she just sort of wears what she can get.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
- Panties, plzkthnx.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
- It's a little high-pitched, and can go from soft and gentle to loud and excited. She's got a very emotional voice, in other words. I don't really like her Japanese or English voices, though I prefer the English one a little more.
2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?
- She has a tendency to babble, but she knows when to be serious now. Her tone and tempo always match how she feels.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
- Nope.
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?
- Japanese is her native language, and while she can read and write English well, she kind of has an accent, so she gets really embarrassed when she has to speak it.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
- Nope.
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?
-Orihime is actually an excellent impromptu speaker, but she does think before she speaks when necessary. Things like her "heart" speech to Ulquiorra were completely impromptu, but when she questioned Ichigo's volition to save Rukia at the very beginning, she stayed up all night trying to think of the right words.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
- Embarrassment and fear are the main things that make her stumble over her words, but usually, she's somewhere between the two.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?
- She's third out of 322 students, so she's pretty darn book-smart. However, she's very naive when it comes to the ways of the world, though she's working hard to change it.
2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?
- Depending on the situation, it could be either.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
- It's very emotion-based, and usually totally left-field. However, she is capable of strategizing when need be.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
- Up to second year of high school.
5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?
- She's pretty good at sewing, she's good at retaining information for studying, and is at the level of a first-degree black belt in karate. xD She's interested in learning about pretty much everything, really. Especially robots in outer space.
6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?
- Very extroverted, though she does have her introverted traits.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
- At heart, she's a very cheerful girl who truly loves the world and believes there's way more good than evil. Evil is just louder. In HM, though, a much darker and more broken side of her surfaced, though she's pretty much beaten that back by now and is trying her hardest to move forward. Few things make her angry, but if she does get mad, it's quite scary. I cite chapters 43 and 262.
8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
- Usually, she's very friendly and willing to say hello. If she sees somebody's first PCD post as them ripping fruit cows to shreds or something, then she's probably going to be suspicious.

- React, most often.

- Back in the day, it was "Kurosaki-kun!", but now, while she still wants to try and avoid conflict, she'll fight for herself if she has to.

- It's really bizarre, and usually only makes sense in her head. Perverted stuff goes right over her head, though she does understand blatant sexual references.

- Nope.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?
- Pre-canon: upperclassmen cutting off her hair, her brother's death, meeting Tatsuki, somehow getting lost for three days on end, meeting Ichigo, meeting Uryuu. Canon: seeing her brother as a Hollow, getting her powers, going to Soul Society, getting kidnapped, slapping Ulquiorra, the events in the Fifth Tower, and the Lust Arc. Adstring: arriving, meeting Hiiro, the hallucination event, meeting Naruto, and her not!date with Ully. Yes, that last one counts. Positive human-Hollow relations ftw.

- Being hated. It started with the girls who harassed her for no real reason in middle school, and the way Loly treated her terrified her almost as much as IchiThing.
15. What are her hopes or aspirations?
- A career as a baker, an astronaut, a teacher... xD Right now, she desperately wants to be strong and independent enough to protect everyone she cares about. Basically, she'd like to be just like Neliel or Rukia.
16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?
- That she kind of doesn't feel the way she thought she did about Ichigo. Alternatively, that she's jealous of the strong women in her life.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.
- She was taken away from them as a toddler, so she knows nothing about them.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
- She had a brother, Sora, who was 15 years her senior. He was like a father/brother to her, and they only argued once up until he died when she was 12. Even when he came back as a Hollow, she was willing to let him hurt her to bring him back to his senses.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?
- She's being supported by her grandma, and headcanon says they get on OK, though they're not super-close.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?
- Tatsuki, all the nakama. Yes, even Renji- though she doesn't know him as well as the others, the fact that he risked so much for her means a lot. The relationship between these six is very deep- Orihime considers their hearts permanently connected. Hitsugaya is also kind of like a little brother. xD
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
- Again, Tatsuki. They met in middle school, when Orihime was suffering physical abuse from bullies. Tatsuki, second ranked in Japan for girls' karate, beat them off and taught Orihime to be more confident in herself. Rukia is a very close second, though.
6. Does she have other close friends?
- The nakama, Chizuru, her other school chums, and Hiiro. Yes, you lucky boy, you're the only one outside her canon in this circle.
7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?
- She's very good at making friends/drawing people out of their shells.
8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?
- Her friends are her family, so...
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?
- Single, though that might change...

- No, though there's potential with a few guys.

- Her first crush was actually not Ichigo, but that guy from Sailor Moon... xD Canonly, it's Ichigo. Right now... She's kind of confused about her feelings for Ulquiorra, and she knows Uryuu has feelings for her too, though he's not at Adstring. And then Hiiro has a thing for her...
12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?
- She thought it would be a dashing prince, but lately, she's starting to realize what she values the most is someone who respects her and takes her at face value. Perfection isn't what she's looking for, especially since she knows how many flaws she has herself.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?
- She'd like to have children someday.
14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?
- Aizen isn't really her "rival", since he thinks of her as a useless pawn, but if she has a clear-cut enemy, it's him.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?
- About a "one". She seems pretty unaffected by Chizuru's groping and is aware that boys can have pretty abs and whatnot, but there's definitely some sisterly romance going on with Tatsuki, Rukia, and even Rangiku.
16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?
- The best way to describe it is "keysmash". She knows boys and girls can do the hoo-ha, but her sexuality is something that embarrasses her very much at this point.
17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
- UHM. Let's just say Orihime is very vanilla, though I imagine that when she gets older and more comfortable with sex, she'll go find books with weird positions and stuff to try out. xD

- Blood types are the most prominent thing like this in Japan, and Orihime is a B-type, which she fits well. Then again, creators tend to base personalities off blood types, so...

- One could say Orihime is spiritual in her firm belief in good being a majority over evil...

- She's a firm pacifist, but she's slowly grasping a middle road between an utterly useless Tsubaki and fighting like someone such as Grimmjow would. Neliel's philosophy is what she needs.
4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
- If it's something detrimental like Ulquiorra's initial belief about the heart, she'll try and sway the person's opinion. However, she's not going to go telling Chizuru to take a chastity belt and siddown or anything. xD

- She doesn't really hold any, except against Aizen.
Daily Life

- She's supported by her grandma, so she gets by.

- Just a student, albeit one with God-defying powers. Not that those really play into her social situation, though.
3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?
- She lives in an apartment building, room 407. It's a cozy home, though it was invaded by a giant Soul Society thinger, last she saw it. xD In Adstring, she and Hiiro are now the sole occupants of the Gundam warehouse, though Orihime's rose goblin Kakei, Shin the black lab, and Oliver the cat, previously owned by Duo, live there as well.

- Sewing supplies, the occasional board game or something fun.
5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?
- Students don't get paid, unfortunately. xD

- AHAHA. Her favourite foods are red bean paste and baked potatoes with butter. As for her cooking... Well, it's certainly interesting...

It's a cozy home, though it was invaded by a giant Soul Society thinger, last she saw it. xD In Adstring, she and Hiiro are now the sole occupants of the Gundam warehouse, though Orihime's rose goblin Kakei, Shin the black lab, and Oliver the cat, previously owned by Duo, live there as well.

- Sewing supplies, the occasional board game or something fun.

- AHAHA. Her favourite foods are red bean paste and baked potatoes with butter. As for her cooking... Well, it's certainly interesting...
