Character: Hisagi Shuuhei

History: Not much is known about Shuuhei's past except that he was born in one of the districts of Rukongai. It was there that he as saved by Kensei Muguruma and his subordinates from a hollow, when he was still very young. From then on, Shuuhei aspired to become a shinigami in the 9th Division. It took Shuuhei two tries to pass the entrance exam for the academy, but eventually his abilities and hard work allowed him to be offered a seat in the 9th Division under Kaname Tousen, to the extent where he got promoted to a lieutenant in a single stroke. He truly respected his Tousen, especially his sense of justice, and began to follow in the man's footsteps. With the betrayal of his captain and two others, Shuuhei began to question his as well as Tousen's sense of justice, but still remained loyal to Soul Society.
He hadn't realized how much paperwork that the 9th Division had to do; upon taking up his captain's duties, he realized that most of the paperwork from the 3rd and 5th Division, both divisions of which their captain betrayed, went through the 9th. Eventually, Shuuhei forged his own sense of justice and remained firmly allied with Soul Society. Several nights before the attack on Karakura Town (where he was assigned a pillar to protect), he went out drinking with fellow lieutenant and crush Matsumoto Rangiku and probably had a little too much to drink... finding himself in the realm of Nuadoria soon afterward, he vowed never to drink with Rangiku again; a vow that didn't take long to break, especially with the replenishing stock of free alcohol in the foods shop. Regardless, he remains to be one of the more productive Shinigamis stuck in Nuadoria to this day.
Personality: Shuuhei's personality is easy to gauge; though he looks rebellious and intimidating with his tattoo and scars, he is the exact opposite of what he comes off as. Shuuhei is loyal, placing his all into his duties as a lieutenant of the Gotei 13. He is more pacifistic than anything else, choosing to take up a peaceful resolution whenever possible unless the lives of others are at stake. However, this does not stop him from thoughtlessly provoking others (mostly Arrancars) verbally. He is mature, calm, and collected (unless his blind captain epic!fails on him and you know, betrays the entire establishment that Shuuhei put his faith in) at all times, but his character is not without some flaws. He tends to underestimate his opponents when he sees reason to; this explains why he loses to Yumichika, the fifth seat of the 11th Division. He is also known to have a perverted side, and for a certain lieutenant of the 10th Division, he is willing to do just about anything--even get drunk and take off his clothes, pose for incriminating photos, &c.
Relationships.
Matsumoto Rangiku: Shuuhei is quite close with Rangiku; these two are often seen drinking... getting drunk... incapacitated... and half naked, though it has nothing to do with a sexual relationship of any kind. Shuuhei also has a crush on Rangiku, which probably stems more from her voluptuous figure more than anything else. Recently, in Nuadoria, Shuuhei has gotten a firsthand account of how Ichimaru Gin, one of the traitors to Soul Society, interacts with Matsumoto Rangiku; out of generosity (as well as tact and being mature), he has turned a blind eye to the relationship.
Kira Izuru: A drinking buddy from his own world, Shuuhei was fond of Kira a a friend. Upon his betrayal, Shuuhei became more engrossed in his work, putting more time to his work. Shuuhei's overworking tendency in Nuadoria after Kira's departure towards Aizen's side mirrors his overworking tendency after his captain's betrayal back in Seireitei. So with that same mindset, Shuuhei hopes to draw Kira away from Aizen's alliance.
Abarai Renji: Another friend from home, Renji and Shuuhei are polar opposites... until they get drunk. More on this later.
Hitsugaya Toushirou: Though Shuuhei is the active captain for his own division back at home, it is Hitsugaya's orders that he follows while he is stuck in Nuadoria. However, due to Rangiku's influence, he's been crossing the line more and more these past couple of weeks, though not as much as the busty lieutenant of the 10th Division.
Kuchiki Byakuya: Again, someone else Shuuhei takes orders from, though he doesn't give much orders unless otherwise noted. Shuuhei might be Byakuya's favorite lieutenant out of the dysfunctional trio, because he actually gets stuff done. And isn't getting mindfucked by the two traitor captains in Nuadoria.
Ichimaru Gin & Aizen Sousuke: Self-explanatory. There is a lot more personal hate from Shuuhei to Ichimaru, since Rangiku always seems to be bothered by the foxfaced man.
Kensei Muguruma: The previous captain of the 9th Division remains Shuuhei's idol since his childhood. Upon seeing the tattoo of a 69 on Kensei's stomach, Shuuhei takes that as some sort of inspiration, getting that tattoo on his left cheek. It is obvious that there is a lot of respect for this man from Shuuhei's end, though it's been almost a century since he last saw Kensei.
Tousen Kaname: Before his betrayal, Shuuhei used to look up to the reprobate captain of the 9th Division. Upon his betrayal, Shuuhei sought to lead his former captain back to what he believes is the right path of justice. Even to this day, he places a wavering faith in his former captain's dedication to justice, hoping to change his misguided beliefs.
Abilities. Shuuhei's combat skills are well above average; he often takes out his opponents without releasing his zanpakuto. He is very quick with the sword, and... uh... yeah.
What are they bringing to Nuadoria?: His zanpakuto and his lieutenant badge.

Edit (8.14.09): A nicer, curt Shuuhei in the works. ffff hopefully the upcoming events will give me a chance to be a little less uptight with him, my apologies if he came off as a hormonal bitch to your characters initially, because fffff it's probably because he's not getting any from Rangiku.
