Historical Disney

I never post here, I know- I art dump because I care.

I'm up to the fourth entry in my historically accurate Disney princesses series (Jasmine), so I figured I might as well do a round-up:

Princesses behind the cut )

I'm here via Haikujaguar, and I really love these. Especially Jasmine. Her clothes are so well done.

Also, are you doing these on your Cintiq or just your home tablet? Inking in PS? I am still waffling around on inking techniques. I can never seem to find one that I'm totally happy with. I don't know if my hand is just unsteady or what, but I keep seeing super smooth inking like this and I can't seem to get it. About how huge do you usually work on these? I am wondering if my problem is I work to close to finished size.

I'm doing these on my Cintiq at work- I've almost completely forsaken my tablet, the poor thing, and am probably going to pic up a Cintiq for home once they're back in stock.

I usually ink on multiple layers at once in PS- it lets me draw huge, swooping overlapping lines without worrying about messing up the other lineart, and then erasing the excess. I'll try to do a recording at some point, I always just forget until I've saving the image to post online- like OH RIGHT I meant to make a video of this. Whoops.

As to size, these are all about 17" tall at 300 dpi. Here's a full res shot of my lineart and the sketch (second sketch really, there was an even looser one underneath it):

Ahhhh thank you, that makes things much clearer now! I think my problem is I keep drawing things too tiny, and don't allow myself the freedom to loosen up with my lines. The multiple layers thing is a good idea!

And yes I totally want a cintiq too. :[ I just feel like I can't justify it right now because I have so little time to draw outside of work. As soon as I start having more free time I am going to get one.

These are GORGEOUS. Ariel's seaweed bouquet is a lovely touch and yawning Raja tongue is adorable. Are those Aladdin's boxers he has? XD

it's Prince Achmed's boxers- Rajah mauls him at the beginning of the film. :)
