What's the secret?

The real estate board announced that for July, the average sale price of a single-family home in Calgary was $505,920.

Anyone else thinking they won't be living here in five years?

Madness. I know for sure that we wont' be buying here. Have Baby, go to school, then buy a house elsewhere.

Why wouldn't you live here. Buy now and sell as if continues to rise. Then again if everything else goes up aswell then you get screwed. I like the idea of selling my place for 1/2 million.

It's the "buy now" part that's the problem. To move up, our mortgage payment would go up by about $1,000 a month. I don't know about you, but without an oil well in my back yard, that's a heck of a cost increase!

Move up as in, trade in our small condo with its comparatively small mortgage payment for something bigger with more bedrooms, but with a (sigh) much bigger mortgage payment.
