Thanks. Normally, I prefer pastel colors, but I knew I wanted this to be my default icon, and it looks better with bold colors. I'd finally tired of the star theme, which is quite unusual for me.
As for the banner, it didn't take me that long to find it or make it. Just a quick trip to AllPosters.com and a little playing around with the font, and I was done. I'm actually rather proud of it. Quite modest, that's me. ;)

...of being one of the privileged readers of your journal? I don't often introduce myself to strangers but after several mentions by Christen and Christine, I decided to find out more about you. My friends list is not yet unmanageable (like some I've seen!) and I'd like some variety.
I wish there were a way for me to read your journal without forcing you to read mine (!!) but if it's any comfort, I'm not the world's most prolific LJ-er. =) I see that we share many interests, as well as those two lovely mutual friends, so I hope I won't bore you too badly.
Yours etc. [Is that proper?! I'm an English-lover too!] Diane

I would indeed be delighted to have you join my friends list! It's funny, I had actually been thinking about asking you if I could friend you; Christine and especially Christen think the world of you.
I'm sure I'll love reading your entries as much as I love reading Christen and Christine's.

You're very sweet! I'm flattered. You lot are a bit intimidating to have as readers--so educated, so clever, so...young! =P But I shall bestir myself to come up with some good entries...soon. I'm still trying to catch up with myself at the moment.
By the way, I love your Lady Catherine VEXED icon. I feel Lady Catherinish all too often and especially right now. But perhaps a good night's sleep will help.

That is a beautiful icon. I love pretty icons.
Don't be intimidated by me. I can see nothing wrong with your writing, and I'm sure your entries are quite interesting (I haven't actually had a chance to wander over to your journal yet, but I look forward to it).
Thanks; I made it when I was posting a lot of complaints (though I can't remember what they were about now), and all the rest of my icons were too sweet and pretty to convey my negative mood. And so Lady C was the natural choice- I couldn't think of anyone more peevish. I haven't had much occasion to use it since then; I prefer to save it for times when I'm truly annoyed about something. The rest of my icons are used rather randomly.
I look forward to our friendship as well. I'm sure we'll get on quite well.
Of course I'll add you! I do so love having new friends.
Fellow Christians who love Jane Austen are wonderful, indeed! It will be nice to have you around.
And you do make beautiful icons. I was looking at some of your other icons, and they're all very good. I'm afraid I possess little talent when it comes to making icons, and so I have a decided appreciation of those who can do it. Mine are usually just cropped, resized pictures. Sometimes I include text, but they're still not very good.
