It takes some work to get stung by them honestly. Only time I've been stung was when I fell on one in some grass when I was a kid. Today we walked under the swarm just fine.
I did used to get stung by wasps randomly in Mexico though. Those things are another story.
Really? Was not aware of that, I don't think. I'm not sure yet if they're just checking out the spot or gonna move somewhere else but I'll keep that in mind.
Hm lemmie mention it to the roommates then. Brooke was just telling the new property manager that they're okay there and not to bother them... I don't know how deep inside the building they are, we can only see a few from the outside now.
thanks for supporting the bees. they are in serious trouble due to colony collapse disorder, which is a problem created by pesticides. have you heard about the major die off of the honeybee? if that happens, many of our crops will fail. needless to say there is real danger if a severe famine,
bees swarm a lot this time of year. the colonies divide to follow a new queen. usually the swarm finds a temporary place to be for 2-4 days before going someplace more permanent. more and more people are keeping bees to prevent them from going extinct.
I've heard bits and pieces, and just now read about it on Wikipedia. Interesting. Well I'm glad my one roommate told them to leave the bees alone, but I hope the idiot downstairs didn't tell them something else, he was concerned about the bees damaging the house yesterday. But he's also an idiot and getting evicted.
Honeybees are usually gentle until someone messes with them. Not like wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets which most people call bees.
The last swarm we rescued got damaged by bleach & god knows what else. Well if it does come down to anybody doing something stupid, get in touch. We can come (after sun down) and relocate them.
