Off to Durham tomorrow to visit a friend I haven't seen for over two years. Nervous about the train journey, but looking forward to seeing Brenda. See you all next week :)

I expect to see burning buses, barricades and the declaration of a free state announced within a week.

Although I think that'll depend on whether or not yous have enough of those fine ales yous are partial to.

I'm in touch and up to date with all this stuff and pledge my full support for the striking miners.

Unfortunately the free state declaration was overwhelmingly rejected by about half a million people this week. I'm still pretty dazed by the vehemence of the 'NO!'. There was rather a lot of muttering about cost, but myohmy if that's all the people of the NE care about, we're stuffed. Btw, the acronym for the Government's North East Assembly, a quango (natch) which no-one has actually heard of is GONE. Tsk, they've voted for unelected fiddling of the books, instead of elected fiddling of the books. However you vote, the Government always gets in.

And thanks Cadd for the lovely CDs.
