title: You Were Never Supposed to Leave
pairing: Leslie/Ben, sorta, but it's not the main focus
rating: PG
words: ~1400
notes: Leslie's feelings about losing her father are something I've craved from the show and wanted to explore in fic for a long time. A work in progress by ashiswriting reminded me of these feelings and compelled me to finally write it. This ( Read more... )

I really loved this! This topic is not highlighted enough on the show, and I really love the way you confronted it. Plus the small Ben parts were wonderful :)

This was my favorite line and I just love the way it reads: "She tells him everything the night he kisses her in the Smallest Park. When she knows for sure that he’s everything, that he loves her even if they haven’t said it yet, that she wants to share all her most vulnerable parts with him and be ready when he decides to share his."

All I want in the whole world is for the show to discuss this, even though I know they won't at this point. Thanks so much for reading, I'm glad you liked it :)

I can't overstate how much I love this post. I've often thought about Leslie's relationship with her father, but never to this extent. We've gotten little treats of information (her telling Ron that her dad died when she was ten in the wedding ep..., etc.. but not much else). I'm so impressed with your ability to go into depth into a relationship we've learned so little about and make it so substantial. Leslie's dad is obviously something that would very much affect her career and life decisions, and I'm so impressed with your ability to expand this topic in such depth with so little dialogue/ screen time. Love this story!!! You're a very talented writer and love reading your other posts as well! xo

I've always been so intrigued by how losing her father fits in to her overall character. It's such a serious, sad thing, and she's such an upbeat, hopeful person. Thanks so much for the nice comments :) :)
