I've wondered about massage. I tend to be a bit of a fussy person when it comes to having people I don't know touch me, so would that cause the whole relaxation thing to back fire?
I'm glad you enjoyed your massage! It sounds fabulous!
Well, you just have to let yourself relax, because if you're physically tensing your muscles because you're stressed about someone strange touching you, yea it probably would backfire.
If you can get past it, even if just a little, and let that person in, you will be able to feel the relaxation. It definitely made me less stressed, a type of muscle relation that perhaps I have not felt since I started working 2 years ago. That is perhaps an exaggeration, but at least right now (immediately post-massage), that's how it seems.
I don't think it makes you sexist, it just means you know your boundaries. I think we all have limits about who we want to touch our bodies in an intimate manner - nothing wrong with that. Yes, my masseuse was a woman. When I booked my appointment, they asked if I wanted a man or a woman, because everyone usually has preferences for one or the other. When you make an appointment at a proper massage parlor, you are typically given the option. So, if you are more comfortable with women, just ask!
