He knows why they’re playing this game.

Every time something happens in Sakura’s life to shake her, she needs this sort of excercise to feel safe again. To know that people care, and to know how much people care about her. She comes to his place in the evening, after her classes are over and after she’s finished her shift at work; she also comes to his place in the evening because the view is beautiful, and that’s when he’s more bound to be around. Sakura is in many ways a creature of routine, and her routine is like this:
She doesn’t dress up, in fact, she dresses down, because she knows it will get some remark from him and being in the spotlight makes her feel good. (After all, at least that’s how she’s sure he’s watching her, looking at her, and that makes her feel…good.) She brings a bottle of wine, sometimes to share it and sometimes so she can drink it alone if he has work the next day
