I am right with you, especially this week. I am hurting in the knee area from the weather. If you go to a gym, you gotta do the right leg machine, the one where you are sitting down and pulling the weight up with your ankle. You basically need to work on the front thigh muscle, the one that holds your kneecap up. I can also show you a trick for some quick relief, it involves massaging the tendon above and behind your knee, it's a really gross sensation that you can feel it like a tennis racket string and it hurts like hell at first, I mean like a knife, but if you know how to do it whenever you get the sharp pains, it helps a lot. And your stairs damn near killed me yesterday.
