Mike has a great job at the Yellow Pages. He does his final role play tomorrow and should be on the floor later this week. He'll get a percentage of whatever he sells. It'll pay for our house in a year if he hits his quota every month ( Read more... )

Don't let him quit. He needs to work, and having something on his resume. "Empty" time (not working) is resume death. If Emerson works out, great - he should go for it! But a job is better than no job, and this means he can just be more selective about where he applies going forward.

My two cents. Having been there (sole income provider) and all...

We just had a long conversation and he's agreed to stick it out this week, go through with the final role play and start on-the-job training, and see what Emerson comes through with.

I just have to keep convincing him that working in a good paying job like that is better than not working and earning money.

LOL! You'd think that would be obvious!

Mike grumbles about his job a lot too - with good reason - but I've made it quite clear that he must stick it out until we find something better.

It really sucks. I have over two hundred dollars in my checking account and own my own car. I could leave right now, buy an entire tub of frosting, and eat it with a spoon. But I have to be mature enough to not do that. The little five year old Allan inside of me is sad.
