You know, if America can love a sport as boring as NASCAR, there's no reason soccer can't catch on.

The same reason Formula 1 hasn't caught on, maybe? Americans don't like watching foreigners do things better than we can. Didn't you learn that from Talladega Nights?

I think a huge reason why NASCAR is so popular is that it has a truly awesome heritage and it used to be an excellent motorsport event. It has since been rather bastardized in my opinion, and people get into NASCAR out of rote.

I think if Formula 1 or the World Rally Championship were popular here, and NASCAR was the outsider, it wouldn't gain any great popularity.

At least the Bristol race in NASCAR is awesome and hilarious. And has a 3 year waiting period to get tickets to see it live.
