During the month of April, Annie and I are taking the single digit challenge. That is, we are trying to get our electric bill down below $10 for the month. Normally, we operate around $15-18, so it might not be thaaaaaat hard. We're not doing it for any environmental or economical reason, we're just seeing if we can do it.

I'm pretty damn sure my computer alone uses more than that in a month.

Maybe I'll see if I can get the bill into the double digits this month instead of triple digits. Then again, I like AC so I'll probably remain in the triple digits.

My bill for last month was right at $50 which is a new record.

I have 1100 square feet to control with electric heat, AC, electric stove, a washer/dryer to feed, the dishwasher to feed, a TV that runs for at least an hour or two each night, 2 laptops, and as of last week most of the bulbs are CFL. Until it croaked a few days ago I had my extremely powerhungry desktop on 24/7. So yeah, it takes a lot of power.

The mobo looks to be dead, so the whole PC setup should be fixable with minimal issues.

All those things considered, $50 is a small price to pay. El Paso, however, is a larger price.

I usually run about $20-$25 per month. That includes CFLs in most of my lights, me being pretty vigilant about turning things off when I'm not using them, and gas heat (That's right, heat. Fuck you, Trevro). Then again, it's just me and I'm gone quite a bit, so the two of you being down to under $20 is already pretty impressive.

We also have gas heat (and stove), we have laptops, and every light is CFL (we're trying to have no more than 1 bulb on at a time).
