So I just checked out some of my friend's videos on Myspace. It was of a rehearsal at Out on a Limb Dance Company, the one that split from my studio, Midwest Youth Dance Theatre, my senior year. While I think Amber was a good starting point for me (I only had her for 3 years or something?) I don't think I feel her as good of a role model as I view the ballet teachers I've had since her. She's too much of a performer and I don't agree with her strictness or her weirdly too-friendly attitude with students. I have a lot of beef about her but I won't go into it, hah. Let's just say I view Emily as a much better, more mature teacher.

See, I'm old enough where I danced with Emily as I grew up and looked up to her as another student. I can still remember her senior solo ( ... )

Well I definitely agree that Amber is good for challenging/being viewed as a good performer. But I guess what my main point is that she isn't what I'd ideally view as a good teacher for people that are taking dance for the sake of dancing rather than becoming professional...if that make sense ( ... )
