"She looked in the window, and then peeped through the keyhole; seeing nobody in the house, she lifted the latch." Starting off fairly obvious, though not as glaringly obvious as last episode. So, just in case you didn't pick up that the title had something to do with Goldilocks...
Okay, I have to say: I love the Jagerbars' house. It's so gorgeous and rustic at the same time.
I hope they come back in the story just so we can shoot more scenes in this house, seriously.
It took her a looong time to go from, "Is he playing a joke on me?"...
...to legit, "Oh, yeah, those screams of pain and mutilation are probably not entirely healthy/RUN!"
(Makes me wonder if he did something stupid like that before or she's just that slow.)
Omigosh, woobie Nick with the bandage and the droopy eyes!
He has no right to look that adorable when he's in pain/confused out of his mind, ugh what is wrong with me.
"So what happened here, since I cannot possibly have any idea? Your aunt was attacked? What, really? Dang, we should get on that!" Yeah, not fooling anyone, Renard.
Haha, Nick!
"How do you know she wasn't a nurse?"
"Well, she stuck a needle in me and she ran away..." Wu's been giving you sarcasm lessons, hasn't he?
Look at these slick mofos, rollin' their chairs out like they do, DANG. (I don't know why I found this so funny, btw.) In other news: Yay, Nick's Holmesian skills are back! Was hoping they wouldn't vanish after the pilot!
Nick's got a lot to learn about getting teenagers to listen to him.
"Stay. In. The car." Yeah, sure she's gonna take that to heart and not roll her eyes and...oh wait.
Yup. Good thing she's still a little traumatized, otherwise she might've left just for kicks.
"That's all I got." Translation: Your problem now, detectives. Have fun!
So, Marie hinted in Nick's visit that he was a cop because of his ability...which is what? Seeing the creatures? Because that's the only true "ability" that Nick's shown so far that's not normal for humans. Yeah, he's a good fighter and he has amazing reactions and instincts but not outside of the human scope. I really hope this means there's much more to being a Grimm than we know so far...
Pa-Pa-Power Rangers! Neere-nere-neere-nere-nere, Pa-Pa-Power Rangers! (What, wasn't that the first thing you thought of too? I can't be the only one!)
The mother's whole angle about who the real victims are...you can see she totally believes they're in the right, even if that involves taking a life to protect their home. This is a very real animal instinct, especially of territorial animals like bears, and it's also very difficult to repress, so I can see where she's coming from, which is just a tad bit frightening. Reason #645 why Wesen have it way harder than Grimms give them credit for.
I'm afraid I'm really not getting the whole Reaper hierarchy here, Renard. So, you're in charge. I get that much. And you command other creatures who aren't necessarily Reapers or even Wesen. But why do they listen to you? Who is this guy?
Oh my God, why are they so cute.
I can't take it.
Aaaand, nightmare number 2. Not as cool as the first as far as editing goes, but I'm such a sucker for dreams pointing to realizations/any plot point really.
This trailer is really, really, legit cool. I know I didn't really talk about it last time cause I was dwelling on Nick's compartmentalization skills, but wow.
Every inch of this place is just covered in history, it makes my inner-nerd so happy.
I really hope that wasn't when Nick realized what he was dealing with for the first time. How about all the other clues, like Barry morphing, the crazy bear symbolism through every inch of the house, huh? But no, it takes the really obvious Germanic bear claw weapon for supercop to make the connection. Jeez, Nick.
"I think Jagerbars use these for disemboweling. Now I'm hungry."
"A lot of pounding of chests...and wailing. Who wails anymore?" (Guys, I love Monroe. For serious.)
I also love how you get these little moments of something softer between them, like *gasp!* friendship...or something. Like how Monroe is all...
"Yeah, been having nightmares about your aunt blah blah insensitive comment blah blah."
"She's still in the hospital."
"Oh. My bad. Soooo, about the creepy bear claw thing..." And how he's all...
"Oh, yeah go ahead and leave! I'll just drink your coffee...and eat your bagel...yeah." Don't worry, Monroe, he'll be back. (Possibly sooner than you'd like.)
"I'm sorry, but my hands are tied." Oh, BS! Ugh, who wants to bet Renard pretty much owns the police system, anyway?
Haha, heeee's back! What'd I tell you! Man, Nick really trusts Monroe almost immediately, doesn't he? I'd say it was instinct, but that's only because nothing else makes any sense.
Either way, Monroe's little clockmaker glasses just claimed a piece of my soul.
Eesh, scary mama bear! Not really in the running for best life choice ever, Gilda...
Whoa, I seriously misjudged the dad here. I love how he goes from territorial-protective-parent directly to teaming up with a Grimm to stop his own ancestors' traditional rite.
Going off an a tangent here, but it makes me wonder if this is why Renard is protecting Nick but going after Marie: because Nick actually gives Wesen a chance before going off on them. He's a cop before he's a Grimm and that's all the difference in the world to creatures that can barely control their natural instincts over human common sense sometimes. I don't know, just a theory.
"Last Thanksgiving I'd be invited to." I really wanna meet Monroe's family, esp. if Nick is with him when we do, cause that would be ten shades of awesome. Just saying.
Dude! You just had your freaking arm torn off! Why aren't you screaming bloody murder?? Seriously, who trained that actor? (And I know it looks like he is in the pic, but believe me, it was more like a grunt than anything. Also just had to watch that scene like 20 times to get this screenshot right, gonna go barf now...)
Okay, I'm pretty sure bears are one of the few meat-eating animals that don't really go in for the whole "thrill of the hunt" thing. They're more likely to forage for vegetation/take advantage of the salmon season/chase off other predators from a carcass. So where did this whole idea of a hunt being a rite of passage come from? Sounds more like a big cat thing to me...
Ah, so Wesen can completely morph! I was wondering about that! Oh, and that's really gory, isn't it? Ergh, hope she's okay...
"It isn't easy to give up your history. You haven't had to give up yours." Reason #646 why Wesen have it way harder than Grimms give them credit for.
Okay, most badass death scene ever made?
Yeah, hands down. Marie kicks ASS.
Too bad she had to go...
"Are you alright?" Possibly the worst question to ask someone who's crying at their dead aunt's tombstone, Juliette.
Just saying.
Whoa, whoa, what the heck is that?! I don't remember that! (I guess this is why I'm rewatching these.)
Okay, overall rating: 4/5 stars. Engaging, interesting, brought up a lot of good points about Wesen lifestyles and how hard it would be to integrate. A few lines that made me roll my eyes with just enough Nick/Monroe scenes to slightly mollify me. Let's finish with some Nick/Juliette because I don't want the mystery creature to be the last screenshot.
Aaawwww. Til next time!
