54. Broken clock picture

When the clock smashed, Harry jumped. He approached it gingerly. As he touched it, the room span and he fell to the floor. When he awoke he found himself in the TARDIS.

"What the devil is going on?" he asked, as he sat up carefully.

The Doctor appeared from behind the console. "Just a bit of interference, Harry, no need to worry."

Harry did worry, where the Doctor was concerned. "Where are we?"

"Going on a little trip. I'll have you back in no time." The Doctor grinned. Harry thought he'd been done with this years ago, but apparently not.

4. Bug

It was, technically speaking, an insect. It was just that insects weren't usually bigger than humans.

"Er," Harry said, looking at it, "I think we have a problem."

"It's no problem, Harry." The Doctor grinned at him. "It won't harm you."

Harry wasn't sure about that. This insect looked like it could squash him accidentally. "But it was less than an inch long a minute ago."

"Perhaps that wasn't the right button."

While he fiddled with the controls of whatever it was he'd picked up, Harry made a hasty retreat. He didn't fancy being twelve foot or twelve inches tall.

59. Picture of a man fishing

It was, Harry decided, his idea of a perfect planet: all water as far as the eye could see. It wasn't very deep where they'd landed, which was just as well because the TARDIS didn't float.

The Doctor waded out into the water just the same as if he was on land. Harry rolled his trousers up before he followed him, but wasn't quite brave enough to take his shoes off. The water might be blue and inviting, but who knew what alien diseases lurked beneath the surface?

Sarah had found some wellington boots and splashed happily after the Doctor.

92. Author's choice

"I know exactly where I'm going, Harry." The Doctor set off at an amazing rate.

Harry had to jog to catch up with him. "This doesn't look anything like UNIT," he complained.

"We're not far away, Harry."

"I'm just pointing out that you haven't the faintest idea where we actually are. You're as lost as I am."

Then they rounded a corner and the building they'd been searching for came into view. The Doctor grinned. "What did I tell you, Harry?"

Harry frowned and decided not to mention the change in surroundings that suggested they were in the wrong time.

69. Return to sender picture

Harry hated leaving things like this. He knew he'd done the wrong thing by putting his job before Maria, but she was a nurse and he thought she'd understand. He'd tried phoning her, but she wouldn't let him say anything before she put the phone down. If he went round to her flat she was either out or pretending to be out. So he resorted to letter writing. He poured his heart out, more than he'd ever done in person. So when it came back unopened, with 'Return to sender' written on it, he knew he had to admit defeat.
