At work today I had a discussion regarding religion and my thoughts on it with my beautiful African Queen Christina. Since I'm agnostic and she is very much religious, I let her know as sweetly as I could that even though I don't believe in a god per say, I do strive to be a good person, and that I hope my actions reflect that. And I was thinking ( Read more... )

Get 'em while they're young and impressionable haha. I'm glad you commented first, I was damn near positive my first one was going to be from someone trying to save my godless soul.

Saving souls hehe. Makes me sound like a TV evangelist. :-P

I just think someone should have a hand in these kid's futures and their parents are doing shitty jobs of it...

Funny, that's exactly how I think...
I've met religious people who think because I don't believe in their God, I have no sense of morality...like being a good person was related to being religious somehow. I don't get it.
I think in any case, it should make you a better person, since you don't do things because your religion says they're right, or forces you to, but because you genuinely *believe* they're right, and *want* to do them.

Exactly! I mean how many christians do you know how actually take the whole "judge not lest ye be judged" and "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" to heart? Instead it's "oh your a bad person" "fags are icky" "blah blah blah". Bunch of horse shit. We should make a club "people who are nice just because they can be"

I was raised by nuns and hoping that God did have a plan for my life, had something destined for me this whole time, that everything I've been through wasn't for nothing. But it probably is. Life is just something I can't handle anymore.

That's why I can't stand religion. You are an strong, intelligent and loving person and yet you feel you have no worth because religion cannot explain what has happened to you. Nothing can sweetie, you need to dig deep inside yourself and find your strength again, not Gods, and carry through. Go to school, make a difference in the world. God can't save you, only you can. Much love.
