Last night, I broke down and watched two episodes of Torchwood.  I forsee a marathon session coming up.  Good writing and cast.  I can see why everyone is so hooked.

I've only watched a few episodes myself but I am starting at the beginning, renting season one from Netflix. I really like it from what I've seen though.

I can't quite make the leap into the fandom. I've been reading one WIP on ij by melindakitty but mostly I don't bother. Neither Torchwood nor Queer as Folk has gripped me like HP.

I started with Episode One, Season One. It doesn't sneak into anything. It hits you on the nose right away.

I liked what I saw and am looking forward to seeing where it goes. I have only seen a few episodes of Dr Who, so I am a total noob towards this series. The only character's name I can remember of the top of my head is Captain Jack.

I'm with you though. I've really only gotten fully into one fandom. I get into lots of shows, but I am not going to their conventions. :)

Yeah, I don't know Doctor Who very well either. I own the first recent season because an English friend bought it for me. And I've been watching more but it still seems like you have to already know it (as Doctor Who has been around for ages) to get it so I am forever not quite getting some of the lines, jokes, etc. But I don't think you have to be a Doctor Who fan to enjoy Torchwood, although it helps.

From what I saw last night, it is kind of right up my alley. It's like a violent, more sci-fi X-Files with cool accents.

One of these weekends, I'll not leave the couch and get caught up with the rest of the class.

I've been religiously avoiding any contact with Torchwood and Dr. Who.

But it seems my defenses are breaking down.

Really good, huh?

It really is good. I heard people talking about it at Portus, and I've gotten IM's telling me to get on board, so I gave it a shot. Usually you can tell immediately if a show will click for you or not. This one is well done. The cast is interesting, the sets all look great, and the story lines are good.

I give it a thumbs up. Let's both watch the first season and compare notes.

I recently got hooked, too! (And watched the entirety of both seasons in what was, for me, a very short span of time, heehee.) I'm excited to actually be in a fandom that's ONGOING for the first time in a while. :)

You're telling me that Harry Potter is no longer having zany adventures with his friends? Crap.

I'm just looking to get up to speed on Torchwood. It may be a couple of weeks, but I'll get there.

Unfortunately, no. But I've been hearing great things about this new series, Twilight . . . you probably haven't heard of it.

Let us know when you do! \o/

I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I am not getting into Twilight.

Actually we're all hooked to see Jack and Ianto make out. But if you think the show has merit beyond that... I'm not going to argue. XD

*headdesk*

The show also has pretty pictures and fabulous music.

Yeah, Torchwood is one of the few shows I watch where I often approve of the musical choices instead of getting outraged by their inappropriateness. Certain shows *cough*HEROES*cough* just have musical choices that strike me as wrong for some reason even though I like the songs.

But yeah, mainly I like it because Jack is swishy and makes out with dudes a lot.
