Camp Mendinghell Part 8/?

AN: Sorry for the delay to those of you following this story. The writing of this chapter just didn’t come as easily as the others, and I’m still not really happy with it. I’m posting nonetheless, I don’t like having unresolved stories, and won’t let myself start something new until this is done. Hopefully the muses will be back with a vengeance ( Read more... )

I am glad about your update. Your story is getting heavier now. I really like it and hope the kids will all survive. I really like this group. And your story.

A.J. is a model citizen, isn't he? He may also be the worst possible role model, but despite his negligence in terms of his paid role at the camp (and the outright physical abuse, ahem, Ryan), the kids unfortunate enough to be in his "pride," have bonded... but despite/against him (We won't include Oliver Twisted because his status as a human is questionable.). It's reassuring to see some personal growth from those who obviously had plenty of room to do so, and even the weaker-willed and just weaker rising to the occasion to help and protect one of the stronger, but now compromised and vulnerable of their group.

You've included some of the personal asides and revelations again, with Luke apparently educating Anna about some of Ryan's reality, and S/S becoming closer, and the referenced "regrets" with Ryan admitting his disppointment and the way he'd dared to hope about being taken seriously.

As for what Luke overhears and the implications, that's a dangerous segue...

Yes, the weaker group members are having to step up, and Ryan is having to submit to some coddling for once.

I think I'm in the home stretch with this one- maybe another two or three chapters and an epilogue, but we'll see how it develops. Thank you for reading, once again!

Nice twist - you've been building up to it for awhile but I didn't see this turn of events coming. Fingers crossed incompetent Bob suffers for his idiocy.
