Challenge 07: What Doesn't Kill You...
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. - old idiom
You've all come so far not only as individuals, but also as teams. Unfortunately, this is going to be the end of team work. I'm sure you all want to make it to the finals and I want you all to have a fair chance at it. All the points you've earned up til now mean nothing. However, your placement does make a difference.
Those of you in first place will remain in first place and move on to the finals - if you beat your teammate head to head in battle. Those of you in second place can overtake your first place ranked teammate if the points land in your favor. It's a little complex, so I hope this example helps.
For example: Sasuke (1st place) vs Ranma (2nd place).
icon 1: Sasuke's icon gets more votes
icon 2: Ranma's icon gets more votes and has a total between the two icons 5 points higher than Sasuke's total between the two.
result: Ranma wins. (the same goes whether it's icon 1 or icon 2 that wins)
icon 1: Sasuke's icon gets more votes
icon 2: Ranma's icon gets more votes but does NOT have a total between the two icons 5 points higher than Sasuke's total between the two.
result: Sasuke wins. (the same goes whether it's icon 1 or icon 2 that wins)
icon 1: Sasuke's icon gets more votes
icon 2: Sasuke's icon gets more votes
result: Sasuke wins
icon 1: Ranma's icon gets more votes
icon 2: Ranma's icon gets more votes and has a total between the two icons 5 points higher than Sasuke's total between the two.

icon 2: Ranma's icon gets more votes but does NOT have a total between the two icons 5 points higher than Sasuke's total between the two.

Basically, The second place person must have a 5 point lead on first place and win at least one of the two battles. First place wins as long as second place does not have a 5 point lead on them, no matter if they win or lose their battles.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Also, as far as voting goes, you will not be voting in the sets your icons are in. That would be shooting yourselves in the foot since you can't vote for yourself.
Now onto the challenge itself.
THE CHALLENGE
This week's challenge is fairly simple. You have to make two icons. The first icon must portray the theme of death and the second must portray the theme of strength. How you want to interpret this is completely up to you. The sky is the limit. I want you all to focus on making the best icons you can so I don't want to bog you down with criteria. :)
The icons are not sets, so there's no need to link them to each other in any way.

checklist/additional information
► your icon must use an official image from any shounen or seinen animanga series (unless text only)
► your must make two icons - one intepreting "death" and the other "strength"
► be creative with your icons - there are no limitations aside from subject and lj icon standards (100x100px, 40 kb - .png is preferred as .jpg compression can leave behind some ugly artifacts)
► please read the rules before submitting
► your submission should be made like this, using the provided form:
