Nekura's eyes flashed briefly up to cast a gaze at his teacher before he focused back on the ground beneath his feet. It seemed worn as if it had been used many times before, and the young man wondered just how many times he would have the displeasure of walking it himself. He offered a noncommittal grunt to his teacher, at least acknowledging the other man's presence. Sensei waited politely for a moment to see if Nekura wished to extrapolate beyond a grunt, though the following silence soon proved he did not.

Sensei reached over and ruffled Nekura's hair solely for the pleasure of seeing him further disgruntled. "Cheer up, emo kid." It was his favorite "teaching" to lecture his young student about. Also the one thing Nekura would probably never learn. He was a bright kid, and a learned fast (at least when it came to fighting), but his constant doom-and-gloom disposition kept a constant grey cloud over their travels.

Sensei glanced up at the sky suspiciously to see if Nekura had yet summoned a rainy cloud to hover over their heads. Being thus distracted, he almost would've missed the sudden danger emerging on their right-- if, of course, he had been asleep.

If eyes could shoot daggers, Sensei would probably have been a dead man. However, that was not within Nekura's skill set so he had to settle for insolently swatting the hand of his teacher away. Slumping his shoulders further Nekura continued to follow the path. He muttered something under his breath as he kicked a small pebble.

The presence of someone else slowly brought Nekura out of his black cloud of doom. Ice blue eyes darted about the area before settling to the right. The approaching man wasn't very subtle about approaching them and Nekura narrowed his eyes. This man had intruded on some very important dark thoughts on the world according to Nekura.

Sensei put a hand on his young student's shoulders and pulled Nekura to a stop in the middle of the road. He glanced up at the sky again as the wind breezed across the path in front of them. It had been such a nice day ( ... )
