desert report

Mar 19, 2010 20:29

we've reached a conclusion- 3 day trips to the desert are awesome but 4 days is way too much. despite that, this year's trip was incredible and I had a blast with my friends and my class!
I'd never trade my classmates and even though my muscles are still in pain, I'm so happy I didn't miss this trip *u*

DAY 1

got to school real early, helped filling the water tanks and waited forever till we started moving

tired

on our way to Eilat we stopped at Dimona as usual and Yotvata. Yotvata is a kibbutz known for it's chocolate milk and other dairy products, so most of us bought some ice cream and chocolate milk there. the weather was dead hot with sand storms so it was a really nice way to start the day!

sand storm from the bus

after 4-5 hours on the road since we left Brenner, we finally made a turn into the desert, just a few minutes before you reach the entrance to Eilat city.

fascinating.

first day was the shortest, since we only got there at like 1pm! it was also the hottest of all days and the most intolerable. heat wave + haze + strong winds.

almost everyone was wearing the class shirt! here we sat and rested for a bit, sandy winds hitting us.

here our guide told us about the Ibex's courting, she asked two guys to demonstrate the fighting

camp

my class making our class dinner making dinner

soup with soup almonds! though it was a warm night, so we didn't really need it

awkward moment of the day:
my used-to-be best guy friend came, when we were really tight I tried so hard talking him into going to that year's trip but he never agreed. so when we were opening up tents and all I told him hey Nadav, nice seeing you around! and he answered uhh, yeah you too and walked away
orz.

DAY 2

we were in charge of cleaning so we stayed behind all other classes and cleaned -3-

walking

climbing

resting a lot

the color differences are pretty cool

brunch! one of my classmates named Raz improvised a dish with tomatoes, sausages, tuna oil and some other stuff we had. it was so good *3*

also, this Raz guy is totally the glue keeping my class together. the guys came up with so many songs about him and sang it throughout the days and it made walking hilarious.
one of the songs was "I'm your biggest fan I'll follow you until you love me, papa-paparazi" hahaha

the night was the same as the previous, we made food, had some soup etc etc.

our camp this time was located on the top of one mountain so there were some crazyass winds that broke down some tents and whatnot.

one of my guy friend's tent broke on the first night and he was planning to sleep outside but with the wind going on like mad we practically made him sleep with us in our tent.
dude slept in the same tent with 3 other girls. as soon we woke up we kicked him out so we could get dressed lolol

DAY 3

these rocks felt like straight out of a disney scenery and it was pretty awesome.

these bones aren't fake, just really really old

four meters high \o/ I took the left ladder because I'm adventurous

after that came a lot of walking, poo jokes etc.
at some point we were all sitting in a circle but some kids that sat behind some rocks and occasionally bothered us with their noise etc. when my homeroom teacher asked them to be quiet the spiky-haired guy from pic above yelled "what, can't a guy shit quietly around here??"
of course we all took it for a joke, laughed a bit and carried on with what we were doing in the circle. minutes passed and we see the other guys sitting with him (we couldn't see him) with their face red from laughing, and the guy's suddenly asking for paper towels.
here we started having second thoughts. one girl threw him her bag of paper towels and we carried on. a minute or two later we see our homeroom teacher laughing so hard she's turning red, apparently because she saw the guy's hand reaching out for the paper towels and actually using them LOL

so he really did take a big shit right next to the rest of the class. the rest of the guys went there and took a picture of it and I preferred not to hahaha

and this is probably the best kakka joke ever made.

also this

we never noticed it but it seems that every other class did
the hell is that lmao

at night I mainly stayed inside the tent with my injured friend, ate ramen and had a good time. that night we decided it's a good idea to use one girl's tent-for-6 and have a "big party" there at night. soon after I discovered it wasn't a great idea at all.
in a tent of people screaming and laughing and happy, I lied down and just wished they were gone, closed my eyes for a bit and just waited for the big night activity that was planned for all us seniors
but I fell asleep and missed it orz
I slept in the most uncomfortable part of the tent ever, with the crazy winds throwing the wall of it at my face, and my friend on the other side sleeping and looking like a corpse leaving me so little space to sleep in.
that minute I really regretted sleeping like this and I just wanted the night to be over. also baw'd some on twitter and kinda made me feel better

DAY 4

so Nadav from day 1? he saw me struggling to carry my bag towards the truck and came to help me with the excuse of "I couldn't bear to look at such a poor sight" ;u; we had a smallish talk but urgh we haven't talked in so long for no reason at all so it still makes me happy.
awkward moment is no more and ;o; man I'm just really happy we talked!

before we set out we all ran to this hill and made out mark

they ruined most of it later though. it says "יב' 1" which is like 12-1? the number of our class

our course for those 4 days

Red sea!

that's Jordan right there. pretty awesome ain't it.
we had some cold coke on top of that mountain and it was just super

a border line to Sinai, Egypt hehehhe. I'm proud to say I've been to Egypt.

Eilat and Aqabah, as seen on map, are really darn close.

heh

the guy with the straw hat is to blame for all the Raz-themed songs. he and Raz had a massive fight during this year and Raz literally could not bear being around him. so this guy, Lior, started making up love songs for him- one of the suggestions for a class shirt was these two, with a broken heart at the background
during this trip they made up and we just took every possible moment to document their lovey-dovey hahaha
for the record, they're not really gay just really stupid okay LOL

EILAAAT man it's so surreal. Eilat is where you go with your friends/family on vacation. here we were, 12th graders in Eilat, not for leisure purposes. we were so close to the beach after 4 days of not showering.
Red sea you are such a tease.

oh and

mhm.

that aside,

I guess it's somewhat true..

photos, quiz, school
