I knew there was a reason I was up at 3:15 AM on a school night that truly had nothing to do with friends and my band (ha! I know things! just like Gerard!).
And this was it

Oh my freaking god I hate you and I love you all at the same time. You kill Gerard and replaced him in one chapter, you completely annihilated Markman's and Frank's characters and you've *almost* reduced me to a crying wreck. I hate you and I love you. Why did it have to end in such a why? WHY?!?!?!?!

A happy ending would have been unsatisfying, in my opinion. I don't think this story ever could have had a happy ending and remained convincing. It's bittersweet, sure, but it's more realistic and more satisfying because of it. But that's just my opinion.

YES I completely agree I hate this ending so much but at the same time I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. Reminds me of this--
