I've finally had some time to...experiment, with Late Night. I don't know what it is about this particular expansion but it's pretty damn buggy. I mean TS3 as a whole is buggy but, I don't know if I've ever experienced this many bugs; I can't really get through even one minor play session without having to quit the game and restart several times. But I can say, I do really, really love Bridgeport. I have always wanted to play a metropolis type neighborhood and EA did deliver. The Vampire game play still leaves a lot to be desired, but I've already found a good mod to remove the annoyances. Who says Vampires have to be sadistic/evil, scowling assholes? Every single pre-made has got epic-evil-brows. It's really annoying. I also find the glowing eyes to be overdone. I know the pale skin is an overlay; I'm hoping some amazing Modder can take care of those 2 issues. I'd be so happy.
But I digress. This is Polly. She is a pre-made and she's got kind of a sad story, or at least I felt sad for her when I looked around at her back story.
This is her building. When I feel like taking this neighborhood apart at the seams and creating one for myself, I'm gonna need some kind of Grunge Gun. I doubt it exists but, this city is just a bit too clean. Needs some grunge sprayed all over the place. A teeny bit trash. Old paint. Good, good stuff.
Lobby. Boring as all get out. This is what I'm going to edit first. Needs a news stand or a mini market. Or a laundry room. That would be cool, actually. That white door on the left is supposed to be another apartment. It looks really out of place. I'm not sure why EA didn't just copy the Apartment Life doors. No one lives there, anyway.
The theme of this building is unlike most of the other buildings in the city; not a supremely modern high rise, but a cheaper subterranean studio apartment. See...nedz moar gruyngez. But the oil drum, empty crates and poor lighting do help to add atmosphere.
Again, the door isn't really right. Can't change it though. *whispers* not without cheats...
So, here she is, reading. Which is what she actually loves doing. How this introverted bookworm wants to be a star, I'll never know. She occasionally wants to go to a lounge, which she cannot get into and settles for a dive bar, where she won't talk to anyone, doesn't want to drink and wants to stay in the bathroom for the entire night. She just up and decided that she is going to be a different person, whether it works or not. So now, enter the ratty sneakers and Gaga clone hair. She will not leave the house without styling it that way.
She was living alone when she created this new character of hers. She decided "The best way to make new friends is to force it. Y'know...ROOMMATES!" I dunno about that Polly. But, aight.
Enter: Micki and Mya. Yeah, you only see their backs because that's as much as Polly sees. She didn't realize that having roommates doesn't magically mean you have 2 new besties. What's worse? Micki and Mya are already besties so, they could totally shut Polly out if they wanted. It's only been a few days of their new living situation and Polly is feeling even more isolated than before. When they moved in, they had tons of cool stuff to decorate the place and really liven it up.
When Polly first met Micki and Mya, she was so impressed with what they were wearing and what they did for a living instead of how well they would get along. She clearly went about this all wrong. Although the girls are sweet, they can't help but feel a bit weirded out by Polly. At least they don't have to share rooms.
Through those fire exits are the bedrooms.
On the left in that yellow door, the single bathroom of the apartment. And on the right...
Micki and Mya's room.
This is Micki's side.
...and Mya's side. Polly was excited to find out that Mya was really into to Music and was learning to play the guitar. So she just gave her a guitar. It was already in the apartment when she got there so, she figured "Why not?" But then Mya, who also is quite Artistic, decided to paint the old guitar to hide its scratches and scrapes. For some reason, Polly was pissed and didn't speak to her for a whole day...in protest. Clearly Mya isn't too bothered by it.
And so we reach Polly's room. Very telling. A single light in the corner because "lighting is everything", "overhead light is way too harsh", "lights attached to the wall aren't sexy". She likes this tiny odd lamp she found in the street.
The few things in this room were only chosen by Polly because someone else "loves" them. She can't wear heels so save her life but she has the most coveted pair. Her favorite actress loves panda's so she got a stuffed animal of one. All the coolest bands posters, that she's never heard of.
The trendiest clothes. The most expensive makeup. Yet, she's still a miserable girl.
Let's all hope that Polly can somehow get it together and just be the person she needs to be and not look outside so much. Maybe Micki and Mya can help her. One of those girls used to be a "Polly".
