okay, so i can't believe that i don't know the answer to this. i feel like it's a pretty dumb question:

i have to get my wireless cable internet set up and one of the questions is if i need to rent or buy a modem...

with my macbook, do i? or do i just need the router??

you need a modem to hook up to the router, otherwise no internet

the cable/internet company should provide you with one (which you are basically renting while you have it)
