CODENAME: Technically Sai is his codename, but he won't get a real one.

BACKGROUND:
Orphaned early in life, it is unclear what name Sai was given at birth, and for the first seventeen years of his life, he didn't actually have a name. From the time his parents died, he was taken in by a man named Danzo into a semi-experimental branch of an elite fighting squad known as ANBU. The branch in question is known as Root. (If it's a problem to create an ANBU group, I can just say he was from a top-secret experimental thing of some Japanese government militaristic organization.)
Root's goal was to create perfect soldiers by completely stripping them of their identity, like robotic Spartans. They're trained to feel no emotions, and to follow orders and serve their commanders. Despite this, Sai made friends with a boy named Shin (pretty sure Shin isn't Shin's real name) and they became like brothers. Shin was encouraging to Sai, recognizing his talent as an artist. In his free time, Sai began to illustrate a picture-book of Shin and himself. Towards the end of this time, Shin passed away of disease, and Sai suddenly forgot the ending of his book.
After his loss, Sai became more dedicated to Root's ideals and, though having not forgotten Shin, pretty much forgot about what it felt like to have friends.
Very recently, Sai was sent on a mission and met someone very much like Shin, and he remembered what he had planned to draw in the rest of his picture book, and began to wonder about bonds and friendship. Because of this, he now spends much of his time reading up on texts regarding how to make friends.
Most recently, Sai was assigned on a mission whereupon he is to enroll as a student at Xavier Institute under the pretense that he wishes to further his training as a mutant, despite actually being very proficient with his powers. His mission is top-secret (actually it's more like I just can't think of one) and some nameless NPC mutantTM in Root put a seal on the back of Sai's tongue so that he is physically unable to talk about Root or his mission.
PERSONALITY:
Sai was raised to show no emotions, and he's pretty much actually succeeded in suppressing a lot of it. This means he's serious like all the time (sometimes comically so) and super-apathetic (also comical.)
Sai is emotionally stunted (lol… in case that wasn't obvious) and has a really hard time understanding people and their motives. It's probably due to this that he awakened his curious nature, that he wants to find out more about how people interact and become important to each other. Because he's not very good with socialization, he often says or does things that are inappropriate or insulting.
This is not to say Sai isn't very intelligent. On the contrary, he is rather book-smart and great as a strategist. That said, he can learn a lot from his social gaffes, but he still has a long way to go to stop himself from being awkward.
Speaking of awkward, yeah. Sai is definitely giant turtle caliber. Most of what he learned about human interaction actually came from books, so he can also seem very un-genuine. He is also often much too honest, has an interesting range of vocabulary, and is usually apt to comment (negatively) on someone's appearance. He is definitely considered by saner people to be rude.
Though he sucks at the actual interaction part, he's actually pretty good at reading people's emotions. That said, he's the type to be honest and tell others the truth about each other, even if he is told not to.
Additionally, Sai has a very obedient nature, though he is also an independent thinker and will change his actions accordingly to his opinion, even if it means defying direct orders. But if confronted, he will be upfront and truthful.
Also, Sai might be an artist, but he doesn't seem to be particularly creative. He mostly paints animals and humans, and very quickly. Though he paints a lot, it seems to him as more of a tool than an interest or a hobby. That said, Sai doesn't really have a lot of interests or hobbies…
Lastly, Sai has a weird obsession. With penises. The best explanation I can offer is that he associates penises with strength and bravery, I guess more so than any other part of anatomy. Since being a human weapon is all about strength and bravery, he finds cock to be… really… important.
APPEARANCE:
The first thing people notice about Sai is that he's pale. Like, really pale. Like, take a real person who is really shockingly pale and put this person next to Sai, and this person will look to have a glowingly healthy complexion in comparison.
Aside from that, Sai also has dark black hair that is straight and cut below his ears, and ink-black eyes. Because he blankfaces so much, sometimes his complexion and his eyes make him look eerily nonliving. However, he read somewhere that smiles are very important and people generally believe in them, so he smiles a lot in order to get people to trust him. His fake smiles are physically very different from his real smiles, but so few people have seen a genuine smile from him that it doesn't really matter.
Sai is about 5' 7" and because of his extreme military training, he's pretty built. I mean, not like the students at XI aren't all pretty built, but yeah, Sai's got a nice body. And the worst part is, he really loves showing it off. Okay, this isn't entirely true as the shirts he usually wears aren't really personal style but more like to show alliance to Root (in the most subtle way possible, of course.) These aforementioned shirts are cut off right below the chest, so Sai's midriff is usually unclothed. Yep. It really looks quite as ridiculous as it sounds. His wardrobe also includes black pants and lots of purple.
To those who know both, Sai may look to resemble Sasuke Uchiha, although he has fuller lips, is way pale, and he doesn't look like he has a chicken butt on his head. Apparently his voice also resembles Sasuke's (though not in my personal opinion).
POWERS:
He draws figures on paper and he has the power to bring them to life. His favored drawings are tigers (offensive), birds (usually to carry messages), and he can even clone himself (though the clone is made of ink, so I guess it could only be used for infiltration and sneaking, and not as an actual replacement for him.)
And these aren't powers, but Sai is properly trained in combat and to fight with modern weaponry.
