I'm going to post about all of Sayers' novels in some kind of order because I like talking about them and other people seem to too! If you know someone who likes Sayers, feel free to point them at the posts to join in the Sayers Fest. I'll put spoilers under a cut.

I'm going to have to be very careful when you start posting about the books I haven't read yet...

They're not that functional - Gerald's having affairs left right and centre (and who can blame him?) and Mary wants to run off with her secret lover...

I suppose the Dowager Duchess is functional enough for all of them...

I don't think I made this very clear.. I meant that I think they're functional as a family unit. I.e. that Peter, Gerald and Mary have functional sibling relationships and that they all have a good relationship with their mother.

I love her books :-). And I am always happy to see that other people do too.
I think you are right that in her later books she seems to start writing more about ideas and characters than plots. I think you can see that especially in Gaudy Night.
I would give Strong Poison the award for the funniest Sayers book.

You have just reminded me how much I loved the ones I've read (all of them later ones), and that I should just get on with reading all of them - thank you!
