Auld Lang Syne

For the past few days, I am running into people, places that are evoking bittersweet memories for me.The other day, I passed by my grandmother's old house but the thing is, there is no house at that place now - just a pile of rubble and debris that will give way to a tall, gleaming building ( Read more... )

Was missing you and your writing on lj - this piece is quite beautiful and I connected with it on so many levels! My grandmother's house was recently sold and I've been told that they are tearing it down to build highrise buildings!Agree with you about nostalgia and how it works...

I know what you mean. School, friends, homes - I feel that I, as I was back then, was a different person altogether, what to speak of external entities?

yes. Dipping into those years back then, is both a painful and a happy feeling. I have been grappling with these emotions for quite some days now.

Though I can't say I identify with you, having lived in the same place all my life, but I can understand and appreciate your sentiments towards the same.

I am happy where I am today, but there are times, when a part of me yearns for those wonder years, that part of my life that is long gone and can never be reclaimed again except perhaps, in these moments of nostalgia.

The colorful contradictions of life --beautiful and painful at once.

Shri, I love to read your writings. You make everything sound so poetic. Places and times change in your life and unfortunately it's just something we have to deal with. But there are always new opportunities and new challenges, too. Hopefully there are some things that remain the same, like friends and family. *hugs*

thank you shri for sharing your thoughts.
In this life, change is the only constant!
We go through this in all aspects of our life. I think its best to use our memories to strengthen our resolve (to be good) and then move on. One day, even we will be but distant memories. Our bodies recycled into new you and me! Yay! to that.

in the meantime, remember, you are creating so many new memories to remember fondly in the future (i reread your previous post!!!)
Live well Shri.
