Shri means "diffusing light, radiance, beauty" in Sanskrit. It is another name of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi. Amato is from the Late Latin name Amatus which meant "beloved". The 7th-century Saint Amatus was the first abbot of Remiremont Abbey.
