Faux News

Man, Fox News pissed me off this morning.

I was just flipping during breakfast and caught the pre-news tease. They're running some video of Osama bin Laden while perky blonde Asa George chirps:

"5 years after the start of the Iraq war, we'll be updating you on the man that got the ball rolling".

Sure would have been more appropriate if they'd showed some video of ol' Georgie standing in front of that "Mission Accomplished" banner on the aircraft carrier... the real man that "got the ball rolling".

All of that aside, referring to the start of a war that's killed almost exactly 4000 Americans to date as "getting the ball rolling" is prime example of their flippant disregard for something as terrible as war.

P.S. Where's your wife been? She hasn't posted in ages.

Yeah, I keep meaning to post an update about her. She's in school working towards something in the nursing/fire rescue/paramedic field. She's also switched jobs. She's working full-time as a nurses aide at a swanky retirement home. It's pretty hard, but so far she loves it. unless she's at home she has no computer access.

Also, Jake's older now so most of the stories are just annoying or frustrating, as opposed to funny, so there's not as much to post. I think she's got a few written down and I'm supposed to post them at some point :)

Two things: Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Speech.

Even for Fox News.

Of course, but if you're presenting something as "fair and balanced" news, you should make a reasonable effort to make it resemble reality.

They are the ones who create the reality based community. We just live in it, and years from now they'll still be creating reality and we'll be paupers in some fake land and they'll be nutjobs or something.

There's actually a quote like that if I'd be willing to search my LJ for the Republican Witches post from years ago.

To say the least. And I'm not sure either freedom of speech or freedom of the press apply when it comes to lying about people, which in its essence is what F*cks News was doing here. The problem is, I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find anyone willing to file a defamation, libel, or slander suit on behalf of ObL.

Give Nicki my very best regards! Once she gets that degree, she'll have the world at her fingertips. Nurses can write their own tickets in this world. It's a pretty stressful career, but if anyone has experience handling stress, it's your gal!
