FIC: At the Net, Roger/Rafa, R

Yes, I have written slash. It is tennis slash, but I think people can appreciate it even if you're not familiar with the guys. All you really need to know is this was the inspiration:

aww that was somehow very sweet and intensely hot at the same time. I love the way you capture the contrast between Rafa and Roger (boss Roger, s'il vous plait! :3)

"What?" Rafa asked innocently. "We're European." Oh Rafa...<3

and the picture... the clay dust on Rafa (nothing I can see on Roger), the way Roger's smiling at him..

And notice, too, that Rafa's shirt still has the fold wrinkles in it...haha...while Roger's is perfectly smooth. I just had so much fun with their contrasts.

And Roger's smile is what really got me in this pic...I mean, who would look at that pic and think he was the one who lost? The way he was smiling at Rafa there, and how Rafa was looking back...just *guh*

This was absolutely gorgeous! You reminded me all over again of why I fell in love with this fandom. I love the slow build, and their slow dance, and the powerful undercurrents of their connection. I love the uncertainty in Roger, the push and pull of who is boss, and that the tension is held instead of dissipated. So many lovely lines in it, but this bit made my own heart skip:

Rafa dared to meet that dark-eyed gaze one more time, trying to remember that precise look in case he didn't see it again. Or in case he did. So he could recognize it.

Please keep writing tennis fic. ^^

That quoted bit was one of the first lines I wrote, and I never touched it again. Heh. So I'm glad that was the right instinct. :)
