So, I haven't updated this thing in what seems like forever! I'd give a recap of my life as of recent, but just so much has happened I would not know where to begin

I used to feel the way you do, Mike. But I've come to realize that if I ever feel obligated to compliment someone back (B) it is their fault for making me feel that way. If someone is truly complimenting you just to compliment you, then they won't pause awkwardly after they tell you what makes you so awesome. At least, that's my take on it. However, next time you find yourself in situation B, I would suggest not simply saying "Thanks" but saying something like "Thanks, that's really nice of you to say. Makes me feel good." That usually signals to them that it's their turn to talk and thus you're free of the "obligation" to compliment them back

Yes, some girls do like when you directly compliment a body part...but I'm sure they wouldn't hate a more original compliment.
