Life is pretty good. My Girlfriend's friends came down to visit. we went to 3 vineyards, Rappahannock Vineyard, Chester Gap Cellars, and Naked Mountain Vineyard. the vionier and the cab franc were excellent at Chester Gap, the chardonnay at naked mountain was really nice. every one bought Drink Naked t-shirts. after wine we went to the polo matches ( Read more... )

Home made Bacon expiriment #2 is a success!

I give it a 75%, it's definitely bacon, but my smoking technique needs work. I need to buid a cold smoker. hot smoking bacon isn't the best. It's not bad, but not the best.

I used Alton Browns wet cure recipe, and I smoked it in green applewood and hickory.

The plan for Saturday:

AM: Coffee at the coffee shop and a flea market
Pick your own peaches, blue berries, raspberries.
Vine yard visiting, with picnic lunch followed by slacking at my house

PM: either dinner with wine at my house or saturday night polo at great meadow.

As of tomorrow I will have been going out with my girlfriend for one year.

Currently she is at home experimenting with home roasting cocoa beans, and getting realy wired off of the theobromine. I think she is going to make pralines out of them. I'm expecting a happy woman when I get home. I think I'll get flowers.

The japanese wine berry is ripe! This is a delightfully tart red raspberry. So everybody go get some. Walkers and cycleists have the advantage. Remember, Berry Picking is not for wussies.
