Infestation of ants....

This morning when I was in the kitchen, I noticed a line of ants disappearing into my gluten free baking cupboard.  The cupboard is wall mounted and at head height, so the ants were following the base of the cupboard, going across the bottom of the exhaust fan slide out thingy over the stove and then disappearing into the cupboard at the corner of ( Read more... )

This is why I love my stash of matching storage glassware - i.e. the motherload of used Moccona jars that I found on recycling night once, supplemented by careful gleaning of the empty jars from various office kitchens over the years. Try chewing through that, vermin!

That's a clever strategy, I just never drank that much instant coffee! Ants were back today, this time going for the pantry.... Ms J cleaned out everything and wiped down all the shelves. She tells me they were very excited about the cat dry food ( which I must get rid off, my boys aren't allowed it anymore), the butane gas burner in its carry case and the vinegars on the bottom shelf, and the top shelf of the pantry where the honey, molasses and treacle live. They couldn't get in to anything but were rather excited about those things

Me either, and if I'm going to pay that much I'm going to drink the real stuff!
