I just got in from The John Lennon Tribute gig. Owen and Tree doing I am the Walrus was a highlight. As was most of the Joe King's set. The second band, who I think were called Hurricane Fighter Plane probably were the best at sounding like The Beatles. And Instant Karma's gonna get you! excellent list you've got there! Once you've conquered LC! - HON,Y you need to get your hands on Romance Is Boring, the one that came out this year. It's nowhere near as immediate, but ultimately is stronger and more rewarding.

Other albums I suggest you add to this list: allo darlin (s/t), the love language (libraries), miles kurosky (the desert of shallow effects), titus andronicus (the monitor), frightened rabbit (the winter of mixed drinks), the john steel singers (tangalooma.)

I'm going to have to do something similar. The fear of being involved in print media is that you may be asked to do a Top 5 list for the last issue of the year, and you just know people are going to judge your choices (and I don't think I'll get away with putting Take That's new record in my list). You've covered most of my 'to listen' list, though I will also be including the new Kanye. Also need to give some more time to the We Are Scientists and Gaslight Anthem albums, 'Barbara' and 'American Slang' respectively. Also Ryan Adams' death metal sci-fi album.

I think my actual favourite album of the year was released at the end of last year, but you should totally listen to Mayer Hawthorne anyway. And then come and see him with me and Anneke next year.

I added some Mayer Hawthorne to my last.fm library, so it might pop up when I play my radio station sometime.

Just realised that I bought Weezer - Hurley this year too. Maybe I should add it to my rotation.
