This is one of the best reports/stories on the earthquake I've read. (And while I am biased in your favor, I'm not just saying that.)

We are so glad you are ok but we still pray for Japan and it's people. There's been a lot of reporting in America about how good the Japanese are at disasters due to their familiarity with them. The sad part, to me, is that we keep ogling them and not learning how much better they make things by not freaking out. I know it's a discipline that I still struggle to emulate.

I think it's because America is more about freedom of self-expression and Japan is not. The Japanese are freaking out in their hearts, but they have learned to suppress emotions for the sake of those around them. It's a good thing or a bad thing depending on the situation.
