"Thanks so much for posting this (original entry in forzazzurri). I am quite aware of Marco [Materazzi]'s, um... past. He isn't exactly an angel. However, I think that in this case that is irrelevant. If we are to ivestigate what HE said to provoke a player to violence, then we must investigate everyone all the time. Talk about creating new jobs! No one gave this consideration to Totti, or for that matter... any other players in this situation. The double standard is vile, unfair... and in actuality as prejudiced as people claim Materazzi is.

Why is the legendary French player not at fault, but the talented (yet not as legendary of course) Italian player is? How can one man be excused from violence just b/c he was provoked? Others have maintained cooler heads. I understand that this is a special environment, but if he headbutted someone in a bar, the street, etc... and went to court w/ that excuse, it wouldn't matter. Someone can call the other something ridiculously foul, insult their family, their children, their culture... and if they get punched, the one who did the punching can go to jail.

Some German paper disgustingly insulted David Beckham's mother, sister and even his child (vile behavior!) and he was very calm about it. He didn't allow them to get to him and as far as I'm concerned they deserved to be kicked in the face for what they said about his family. They deserved it, but at the same time... I respected Beckham even more b/c he was professional and dignified. How can he really represent his country and his family, be a good man and father by allowing such crap to get to him? This is why Zidane has failed (in that aspect) and Beckham has won. At least in those two particular cases.

I don't really care if Zidane is stripped of his award. In fact, I'd rather just leave things just as they are. I really don't want one more thing for Zidane fans to whine about. I'd really prefer it if they would just shut up, realize that France played a great tournament and honor his career by focusing on the good things he's done instead of this nonsense. I really think that his true fans will be embarrassed by this behaviour and prefer to let it go unnoticed as possible and would like to move on and focus on other things. The rest of them are ignorant and pathetic as far as I'm concerned.

And anyone in favor of this asshole lawyer getting Zidane's red revoked and having a replay for the final has no pride, no sense of justice and again... is terribly pathetic. If you can't get over the fact that your team lost and that one of your players made a mistake, then you're in for a long haul in life. Life is full of disappointments and embarrassments. Not all of it can be fixed by whining." - sycohoochi, who articulated what I couldn't

Also football-related...shirts I want from Soccergirlz.de (more for me than you):
Pitch, Red Card, Italia ringer, Brasil ringer, Cristiano Ronaldo racerback, Francesco Totti racerback, Mrs. Figo racerback, Brazil thongs, Football shorts. Another reason I love that site would be this, Ronaldo sans beer-belly. And LEHMANN, gods. And Jogi....what? Classic looks, great hair, aged nicely.

I was rudely awakened at 10am this morning, having slept only three hours. Three realtors called about showing our maison to their clients, blah blah blah. So we had to have the entire house spit-shined in fifteen minutes. Spent some hours at Petsmart, Target, and lunched at Chipotle (first time my mom went...she liked it, despite the gas from the black beans).

While at Petsmart, mom seriously contemplated buying another little bird to add to our collection of crazies (two, at the mo'). Once we move house, we'll have to buy a bigger cage to make room for three. It's probably going to be a small, hand-raised parrot-thingy. Like a lovebird, or a small conure. We're not buying one from Petsmart...retail stores have unhealthy and unfriendly animals. So that means I have to research local breeders. But it's worth it to buy a hand-trained chick as they're much more sociable and loving.

Neither of my two parakeets were hand-trained as chicks, so they can be hard to deal with, especially when I want to put them back in their cage at night. If they don't feel like going home, they'll just squawk indignantly and fly off my hand/arm/shoulder. And then I squawk back, and it's all a mess...

Bah, I can't wait till this whole moving business is over with.
