Keep em' guessing. Exaggerate, if you must. You cut straight to the chase, dear heart - therein lies your problem. There's no harm in drowning yourself in a sea of little white lies for the sake of a catchier opener on LJ.

People also find small, fuzzy mammals exciting. Perhaps if you worked them into your posts, life would seem a tad more exotic.
