When Bridge and Sky had begun to develop feelings for one another and finally decided to act on them, they knew through years of friendship and living together that they each had faults. They decided early on to adopt an "embracing our problems as best we can" attitude. After all, Sky knew and acknowledged that he could be difficult to get along with at the best of times, and Bridge realized there were times he could be annoying and hard to understand. They figured that it would be better for them to work these things out or choose to tolerate them, rather than ignore them and allow them to build up, or even worse, try and force one another to change and have it backfire on them.

However, sometimes it was so hard to stick to that policy.

Especially when it began to cut into Sky's sleeping time.

Getting used to the idea of sharing a bunk, as tight as it was, had been surprisingly easy for Sky. He felt it was a great way to build intimacy, and he was coming to like to feeling of Bridge in his arms as he fell asleep. Thus, they soon moved from once a week, to once every few days, to finally sleeping together every night. Sky, having lived with Bridge for quite a long time as a roommate, had learned to sleep through the occasions when Bridge's soft sawing logs would turn into full-fledged, chainsaw-volume snoring. The problem of Bridge talking in his sleep was solved when Sky remembered a great invention known as "earplugs".

But other challenges that came with sleeping in the same bunk soon became apparent- things that Sky wouldn't necessarily have noticed when they were on opposite sides of the room.

The first was that Bridge was a restless sleeper, especially when they'd had an exciting battle during the day, which he seemed to like to re-enact in his dreams (and which was possibly enhanced by his powers allowing him to see things vividly). This meant that more than once, Sky found himself nearly knocked off the bunk, or squished between Bridge and the wall, or smacked, punched, or elbowed all over his body. Bridge was very apologetic when Sky had told him what he was doing- even moreso when Sky let out a very loud scream of pain after Bridge's knee had hit him hard between the legs one night. Even worse, it was starting to affect their waking lives. Sky was losing sleep and becoming crankier and crankier during the day, feeling that tolerating this took "embracing each others' faults" a little too far. Bridge, at a total loss of what to do about it and unable to control what his sleeping body did, began to withdraw from Sky, fearing that he was unintentionally destroying the relationship.

Thankfully, just as they were about to agree to start sleeping in separate bunks again, they hit upon an unintentional solution, which coincidentally stemmed from another problem- Bridge's tendency to hog the covers as they slept. One night, Sky got a full night's rest without any undue twitches shaking him from his slumber, though he was a little cold- and he woke to find Bridge still fast asleep, wrapped up tightly in the green and blue sheets, looking for all the world like a Bridge cocoon.

Thereafter, Bridge had his own blanket and Sky had his, solving both his sheet-hogging and the twitching, as he purposely rolled himself up every night after that, and Sky agreed that he was fine with the lessened amount of disturbances.

However, that didn't fix another less disruptive but much more embarrassing problem.

The first time Sky woke up with a wet spot on his shirt and pillow, he didn't think much of it. However, when it happened again and again, and the wet spots changed every time, he began to wonder where they came from- until he was jolted awake by something liquid coursing down his cheek. He opened one eye to find Bridge right up close to him, mouth open... and contentedly drooling onto his face. Sky bit back a noise of disgust and instead scooted up, intending to shake Bridge awake and inform him of what he was doing... but something made him stop.

...You know, compared to the twitching, this isn't really all that bad, he thought, then felt a sudden wave of affection wash over him as he looked at his sleeping boyfriend. He reached up, gently pushed Bridge's mouth shut, then ruffled his hair before he kissed his forehead. Bridge grunted somewhere deep in his throat, freed one arm from his cocoon of sheets, and draped it around Sky's body. Sky sighed, pulling him even closer.

"...Alright, you win," he murmured in his ear.
