Author: shurifanstuffs
Fandom & Pairing Power Rangers S.P.D., Bridge/Sky
Prompt: #11 Love
Rating: G
Summary: Bridge and Sky begin to behave strangely after a monster attack.
Notes: Assumes basic knowledge of S.P.D. characters.

When Bridge and Sky got ambushed by a monster while out on patrol together, nobody expected the attack to have any lasting effects.

Certainly not the spectacle Z was treated to when she went looking for them later.

The two of them had seemed okay when the others had gone to help them, after all. They were holding their own quite well- aside from the fact that both of them were covered in what appeared to be pink glitter and had rips in their Ranger suits right over their hearts, exposing bloody wounds. They'd weakened the monster to the point where it was quite easy for the Rangers to judge and confine it on the spot. Bridge and Sky both went to the infirmary to get their injuries bandaged, and Z thought that was that.

Until she came into Delta Command later that evening to take over the watch shift, only to find the two of them alone, sitting at Cruger's desk, and staring at each other with the soppiest expressions of love Z had ever seen on their faces. She was puzzled by this, as Sky was supposed to be the only one on watch, and Bridge was supposed to be out in the city doing another patrol. So why were they neglecting their duty like this...?

"I love you, snookums," Bridge said, making kissing noises at Sky.

"But I love you more, sweet pea," said Sky.

"No, no, I love you more," said Bridge.

"No, I love YOU more," Sky insisted. They continued in this vein for quite some time before Bridge finally went on a different tack.

"How could someone possibly love another human being any more than I love you, my lovely, darling Schuyler?"

"Well, it's got to be possible, because I don't think anybody can someone more than I love YOU, my precious Bridgey."

"Guys!" Z exclaimed, her eyes wide. "What on Earth are you two DOING? And Bridge, why aren't you working?"

"What's it look like we're doing?" Sky asked, not in his usual snappish, defensive manner, but in a light, airy voice that was nothing like him. "Is expressing our love so wrong, Z?"

"Nothing in the world could be further from wrong!" Bridge declared. "And if our love is wrong for each other, which it isn't, but hypothetically if it were to be considered wrong, well, I wouldn't want to be right. I couldn't stand to be away from Sky for too long. The city's fine. It can wait. Seeing the love of my life is more important than WORK."

"You are SO right. Like you always are. I will never, ever let anything come between us, Bridgey-widgey."

"You're so sweet, Sky... the way you always protect me... nobody understands me the way you do!"

"And nobody gets ME the way YOU do. Before you came along, nobody got me. It had to be destiny that brought us together. I love you, my green-frosted cupcake."

"You're so incredibly sweet! I'm so lucky you have you. You make me feel so complete, so loved, I'm not sure how I ever lived without you. I love you, too, my tangy and buttery-" and there went the wiggling fingers, making Sky giggle- "blueberry muffin!"

Z dropped the clipboard she was carrying, gawping with shock as the two began to kiss each other- or maybe "sloppily make out" was a more appropriate term- right there in front of her.

"Guys..." she said slowly. "... Guys? GUYS!"

However, they were heedless.

Z hovered, unsure of what to do. Her two friends could get in serious trouble for exhibiting this kind of behavior so openly, in the Command Center, no less- where they were expected to act professionally at all times- and they both had to know that. The two of them were already going against regulations by dating each other, but she knew their superiors pointedly ignored it as long as it never interfered in their lives as Rangers.

That wasn't even going into the fact that this was completely out-of-character for both of them, especially Sky, who had taken some persuasion to be okay with even simply holding hands with Bridge in front of the others while they were relaxing in the rec room.

And yet, here they were- calling each other schmoopy pet names, using the worst cliche words of love, completely ignoring their duty, and kissing right over their Commander's desk.

"Bridge! SKY!" Z said sharply, and they finally pulled apart, turning to look at her, both wearing huge grins. "Guys, you have GOT to cut that out. What if Cruger walks in? Or there's another monster attack? You're going to need to let each other go for that!"

"Aww, come on, Z, he won't care!" Sky said, holding Bridge close. "Our love is so deep and powerful that regulations mean nothing, and monsters wouldn't dare attack until we're ready to confront them!"

And with that, they resumed making out. Z picked up her clipboard and backed up several steps, her mind swiftly running over possibilities of what to do next, each of them less appealing than the last- staying here for her watch shift and hoping they went away eventually, grabbing Jack and Syd to gawp or try and pull them apart, going to find Dr. Felix, even going to find Cruger-

"Ahhh... so they were affected, too," said a slightly amused voice behind her. Z jumped and turned around to find Kat standing there. Z had no idea how long she'd been watching the scene, but she looked as though she were trying hard not to laugh. "I was just coming to look for them," Kat explained. "There have been reports coming in from acquaintances of people who were also attacked by the monster. Looks like it was going after couples- I can only assume it saw them holding hands while they were patrolling or something similar."

"... Really?" Z quirked a brow. "Going after couples? For what purpose?" Kat held up a vial of the pink glitter that Bridge and Sky had been covered with.

"I analyzed this substance it was spraying them with. For lack of a better term... it's a type of love pollen."

"...Love pollen."

"Yes."

"You have GOT to be kidding me."

"As you can see, it pretty much totally incapacitates the victims, because they're unable to do anything else except pay attention to each other. I speculate that it entered Bridge and Sky's bloodstreams through the wounds on their chest, and that's what's making them act this way. It's consistent with what the other victims have been observed doing, at least." Z groaned aloud.

"Are we trapped in a bad romance novel or something? Love pollen? SERIOUSLY?"

"Seriously," said Kat, putting a hand to her mouth to suppress a giggle. "I'm not sure there's anything we can do about it except wait for it to wear off, unfortunately. And maybe attempt to persuade them to take their... activities elsewhere for the time being." She shook her head and went over to Bridge and Sky, who were oblivious to the conversation and still wearing huge grins, Bridge now sitting in Sky's lap and snuggled up close to him. "Come on, guys, your shift is over. Why don't you go back to your room?" Bridge gave Sky yet another big kiss before they got up.

"Sounds like a good idea," Sky agreed. "Come on, honey bunch."

"Lead the way, hot stuff," Bridge said, leering at Sky and giving him a swift slap on the butt before they left. After they'd done so, Z sank into the chair they'd just vacated, her face in her hands, not sure whether to laugh or cry.

"You know they are SO getting blackmailed with this when it's over," she finally spoke up. "Especially if they run into Jack."

"I wouldn't expect anything different from you guys," Kat agreed.
