目を覚まして。
You've been asleep for a while now Reita. Three weeks in fact. Your chest may not be moving, but you're asleep. Your hair has lost it's shine and your normally tan skin is ghost white. I wash you and change your clothes everyday, but you still remain unconscious.
I take your freezing cold hand in mine; it was like lifting lead. I had set the thermostat as high as it would go. The bill last week had been hundreds over what I could pay, but as long as you're comfortable, right?
"Time to shower Reita," I whisper quietly, picking you up into my arms. It's a struggle. The more days that pass the more your body restrains any movement.
I always make sure the water is never too cold or too scolding for you. It wouldn't be fair to hurt you while you're sleeping now would it?
Your eyes remain closed throughout the entire process, never fluttering or shifting even as I run the wash clothing down your face.
I pull back with a smile after you're dressed and hair is dry. "Clean again." But even though you're dark purple bags surrounding your eyes never seem to vanish. A sigh escapes my lips as I lightly run my fingertips across them.
"You must be having a rough sleep..."
I take you back to the bedroom and wrap you in the three layers of blankets along with the comforter. I light the fireplace and add more wood to keep you warm before going to make breakfast.
I picked up the newspaper with one hand while stirring the eggs and read the headline.
˝Local Missing Residents,˝ it read.
˝Mai Yamamoto, Kenji Hamada, Akira Suzuki-˝
I paused. Why would they have you in here if you were only sleeping? But then your name is very common, it's probably someone else.
I relinquish the thought and return back to your side, tray in hand.
"Please Reita," I plead, holding the small spoon of oatmeal up to your unmoving lips. "I worked really hard on this."
My shaking hand lowered. "Are you doing this because of our fight? I-I've told you I'm sorry."

[Flashback]
"Dammit, Ruki listen to me!" the brunette yelled at the blond, standing in front of the TV.
Said man growled and tightened his grip on the remote, looking around the other to continue watching his show.
The brunette snatched the remote from his boyfriend's hands.
"Hey!" The blond suddenly yelled. "Give it back!" he screeched, arms flailing for the device.
The other held it higher above his head from the blond's reach.
"I've worked on dinner for three hours, the least you could do is eat it with me!"
"I don't want it."
Smack!
"Then why the hell did you ask me to make it?!"
The blond boiled with anger. "Don't touch me!"
The brunette crumbled at the other's tone. He went to caress the other's injured cheek. "L-look, Ruki I'm sorry just-"
The other pushed him back. "Get off!"
"Ruki... please, I just want us to be happy like we were before again."
"No!" The blond violently shoved him again, but this time with more force than he really intended.
The brunette's head smacked against the table with a sharp crack before his body fell to the floor with a dull thump.
The blond froze.
"R-reita?"
He walked closer and kneeled down in front of the other.
...He wasn't breathing.

"I'm sorry Reita," I try again, lifting the spoon to your lips once more.
You simply lay motionless, chest still, eyes closed.
You're only asleep, I tell myself.
It might be guilt; that I'm the reason you're like this now. But I never meant to kill you.
No, I correct myself. You're only asleep. Never dead.
Despite my thoughts I still reach for your wrist then neck, searching for the pulse that is strangely absent from your body.
I choke on my tears threatening to spill. The bowl of your food slips from my hands and shatters against the floor.
"Please," I beg, my head resting against your ever cold and unmoving chest.
"Me o samashite."
